This store is conveniently located in the Sheraton lobby and offers a great selection of ukulele's. But the real standout is the free ukulele lesson that my wife and I participated. Neither of us have ever played a strong instrument previously and after on 30 minutes we understood how to hold it, tune it, strum it and play two very simple songs.

The instructor was patient and informative and I highly recommend a visit!

So Amazing! We had a great time, the photo's and videos was shot from the DRONE!!! Moreover, Jimmy was extremely patient with catching the waves, Nanni provided us with breakfast and coffee! And there is no additional cost for anything! And it was easy to find the location by the curb!

We stayed in Oahu for 4 nights over my birthday in May, 2024. We rented boards from Big Wave Dave’s for the duration of our stay. The place it located close to the Sheraton and Royal Hawaiian on Waikiki. Great location, awesome staff, and great boards and pricing. In addition to the surf shop, there’s also a coffee shop which is great as well. Thanks for the great boards and service guys!! Had a blast.

I've taken lessons with a few instructors in Oahu for kitesurfing so I can say with full confidence that this is by far the best one on the island. I'm dead serious - just go with Maui.

Here are a few reasons why:
    1. He has a boat. That means instead of losing your board in the water and spending precious time having to body drag and locate your board, he actually just brings it back to you. For me, it meant I was able to have "many shots on goal", giving me a lot of opportunity to try to get up on the board during the water start. Not to mention, you can get immediate feedback from him. Compare that to other instructors where you literally aren't getting any feedback (very few instructors have two-way radio headsets in Oahu) until you get back to the beach.
    2. He takes you to a location where it's just you and the calm flat water. Most kitesurfing schools will have you at Kailua beach. However, it's a crowded beach with a small launch area and when the wind is good, the waves are choppy and there's a bunch of other kitersurfers, windsurfer out there. For a beginner like myself, that's stressful.
    3. He's calm and patient. This is more of a personal learning style but there's already so much to think about when you are on the water (flying the kite, grabbing the board, getting your feet in situated correctly, starting to do the power stroke all while trying to incorporate the feedback you just got from a failed attempt) so it was made much easier for me when you didn't have someone who would just tense you up from his demeanor.

What a great opportunity I got to spend a full day with Steve for his Outdoor Lighting class. We spent 4-5 hours in his studio where not a second was wasted. He made sure we all thoroughly understood exposure, metering, and lighting ratios and we practiced all of that indoors first. He spent time answering my questions and demonstrating reasons for different ratios and lighting patterns. Then we headed outdoors...and it was so much fun as we all took turns being assistants to each other using scrims, reflectors, and off-camera flash. The class was exactly what I needed to understand angles, lighting patterns, and how NOT to blow out my bright beach skies while making my subjects look fantastic. Steve is a great teacher - very respectful as everyone was learning and needed gentle guidance.

This was just about the best thing we did on Oahu. Lynn is a patient and kind kumu (teacher). We learned a ton about hula, and also the Hawaiian language and culture. Who would've thought that after a 90 minute lesson, two non-dancers would be able to tell a story in dance! The experience also helped us to better appreciate the professional hula we saw later in our trip. And we got a fun video and pictures to document this unforgettable experience.
