It's a short walk from the parking lot to the viewing point. After about 7 minutes the park sign says "1.4km / 20 minutes", but it is only another 7 minutes to a nice viewpoint. Sadly, the sign is probably wrong due to the increased melting speed of the glacier and the revised viewpoint location.

This was a very fun hike. Lots of bridges, rock faces and beautiful views. It took us 5hrs and was a bit slippery which is apparently normal when talking to the locals. Highly recommend, bring snacks!

Easy, flat, 5 minute walk to an impressive sight, especially on a clear day! Was definitely worth the wee wander in!

I came prepared, and it was fantastic. Make sure to bring a bag with a pair of thongs or something that can protect your feet and get wet. Also, something to dry your feet at the end of the walk, and maybe some socks. The water is up to ankle height at best, but it's still quite cold in October. You will probably have a bit of numbness in your feet after your trip. Not many glow worms at all throughout the cave, but it was a good experience. Highly recommended.

Great short steep walk to a wonderful viewpoint with very informative info boards showing how the glacier has receded over the last 100 years or so. Great if you just want a short stop. The view of the glacier and valley are very good.

Starting point really inside Franz Joseph Downtown
Easy trail, no specific view till the end
    You are on rain forest
    Pleasant track, safe
You ll end up to the bridge
You should come back via the same way, you can try to follow the river bank
But be so careful, the water level can suddenly goes up
    Dangerous way

A short walk (20 mins) to see a small river at the end of it, that you can do from town, we did during the day so didn’t see any glow worms.

A great short walk on a good or bad day. There is a good car park just west of the Franz Josef bridge. The walk follows along the flood defences and then through the forest to the lookout near the summit. On a good day you will get a good view of the Franz Josef glacier. Round trip about 1 hour.

A great walk, walking in bush, hearing the river at the start, then the birds, interesting facts along the way, an easy walk

Awesome hike, much easier than expected. There is quite a bit of climbing but the track is fairly well graded with no real steep or difficult bits. In fact, the trail crews were out there during our hike, upgrading the trail and doing a great job. It took us only 2 hours to reach the summit (compared to the 4 hours stated on the DOC sign). We spent about an hour eating lunch and admiring the views, then 2 hours back down. All up, 5 hours. The views of the glacier were amazing, especially as we had great weather. One bit of advice though, try to reach the summit before about 11am, as the clouds start to move in around 11am - 1pm. Highly recommended for fit hikers.
