Even though there are other options to get to Roosevelt Island, this is a must-do!!!
The view is incredible and even if you are afraid of other trams this one is so smooth you will not think you are on one.

This is an amazing collection, three magnificent Vermeer's kick off the visit, intimately displayed in room of their own. You can visit the whole museum in 1-2 hours, so you don't get overfed with art. I actually enjoyed this more than the big ones.

Lovely gallery dedicated to Austrian and German art of early 20th century.
The gallery is small, but artwork is amazing.
The centerpiece is “ the woman in gold”, but many beautiful masterpieces by Klimt, very interesting artifacts, pieces by Kokoschka and Kandinsky.
There are curated talks and tours as well, but spending an hour just exploring the collection is probably the best, as the signage is quite good.
The building is a beautiful historic Manhattan townhouse and there is a delightful bookstore/ gift shop.
A true small gem in the city.
Giving four stars because the management of lines and security can be a bit friendlier, but overall recommend to all art lovers.

The Guggenheim is unique in that the museum features new artists all the time as the main exhibition, so you can come back year after year and see totally different works of art. However if you're picky with modern art, it is worth looking up the featured artist in advance as the majority of the museum will be dedicated as their show space. This heavily impacts your experience with the museum itself. However, there are smaller side galleries, one of which heavily features small paintings of Picasso, Rosseau, Monet, etc from the Guggenheim's permanent collection. The structure of the museum lends itself easily to a nice, gentle, linear walk through all the galleries. While the the price of admission is a bit steep, it can be well worth it if you're curious about the featured artist.

This large part of Manhattan is best known as the home for many wealthy people. Big expensive apartment buildings are found here. You will also find many museums along 5th Avenue and Central Park. Some department stores and lots of restaurants.

It’s like a complete shopping mall for women in one store. Pocketbooks makeup and clothes. This is a very big store that you could get lost in. Every major brand is here.

Park Avenue is a road the runs from North to South through Manhattan. In the North the area is known as the Upper East Side and it is a very elite area of the city.

Walking along Park Avenue there are some very exclusive restaurants and cafes and also shops too.

Worth checking out if you are in the area.

This museum is housed in the former home of Andrew Carnegie. It is now an art museum. When we visited, there was an art exhibit/installation by Es Devlin, a British artist and stage designer. We took a guided tour of the exhibit. It was interesting and unusual. We spent a little over an hour, but skipped the other exhibits, which weren’t that interesting in my opinion. I was also a little disappointed that while there were architectural details remaining in this beautiful mansion, there were no personal belongings or furnishings of the Carnegies. There is a lovely walled garden, but on the day we went it looked like a private event had taken place and the garden was closed.

At the upper reaches of Museum Mile is this wonderful offering. Housed in the historic Felix M. Warburg mansion, it has both a permanent collection as well as specialized exhibitions.

I visited on a rainy Friday morning, as there were three current exhibits I wanted to see. The first was a replica of Frederick Kiesler's modern, innovative home library set up. Next up was a short history of Coney Island and its long-standing Jewish connection, told through photos and two carefully carved carousel horses. Lastly, several of the late Justice Ruth Baser Ginsberg's beautiful legal collars and jabots were shown, side by side with ornate tribal jewelry from all over the world.

A great spot to begin your museum day, as I did, or round it off. And it's close to a sweeping view of the Jacqueline Onassis Reservoir in Central Park at Engineer's Gate.

Excellent store with some bargains though the exchange rate with euro is not favourable at present. Plenty to see and choose from.

This is a fun little statue in Central Park and in my view is definitely worth a visit! My wife is a great fan of the Balto film and confirmed that the statue is befitting of this hero dog!

The statue is easy to locate on both Apple Maps and Google Maps so we had no problems with navigating our way to it. We visited on a Monday afternoon; although there were other tourists around who had also came to see the statue it was not super busy. We also saw children posing for pictures next to the statue which is very cute, albeit not totally safe since the statue is sited fairly high up on a rocky outcrop.

Always enjoy coming to Sotheby's and checking out the exhibits. This past weekend was a little off-putting, however, because we had a strange interaction with an employee that was working the retail level on the ground floor (the area with all the handbags). My daughter was looking at a carry-on case and barely touched it when a sales woman marched over and barked that we should ask for help (there are no "do not touch" signs anywhere, FYI). This "lady" also was quick to tell us that the price of the bag was $20K; the subtext of course being that she presumed we couldn't afford it. So bizarre and so unlike the other professionals that work at Sotheby's. I guess there's a bad apple in every bunch, so I won't dock Sotheby's for this one unpleasant person. I'm sure she won't last long.

I've been to Barney's uptown many times, and I always find it a little uppity. I finally got to explore the one downtown this weekend. It was not only really cool, but I found the service chill and relaxed. I didn't feel uncomfortable while browsing. People were really nice. The clothes are really cutting-edge with lots of up and coming designers. It's more downtown and less suits. Pretty cool here. Love the accessories departments. They have a cool basement cosmetics department too. Check it out if you're in Chelsea or the Village

I first discovered this wonderful niche museum when I led a long ago design study trip to NYC.

This visit, I spent part of a rainy Friday afternoon and itong the latest annual winners whose works are on display.

There are three floors of illustrations, plus the rooftop bar with a special hall of fame, plus libations including craft cocktails on offer.

The society was founded in 1901 and continues to support a varied community of illustrators from all over.

A unique slice of the NYC arts scene. Recommended!
