- The Traveling PierogiWorld277 contributionsLocated in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, The Met Cloisters is a museum owned by the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (or the Met for short) features Medieval style artwork and architecture from the Gothic and Romanesque era. The word Cloister is defined as a covered walkway that surrounds a garden(s) or a courtyard usually found at monasteries, convents, or other religious buildings. It is an amazing place to have a prayer, meditate, or just having a peaceful time to reflect.
There are three cloisters in the complex, my favorite is the main one, the Cuxa Cloister. The design comes from the Abbey of Saint Michel de Cuxa. The fountain that is in the middle of the cloister dates back to the 13th century and is from Saint Genis des Fontaines Monastery. This museum makes me feel like I am in Europe, more specifically France (England is a nice feel too). Makes me want to go back to both countries and explore the countryside and visit some of these monasteries with their cloisters. Here is a little fun fact, there is a display of medieval playing cards, which is one of two known to have been in tacked.
I would recommend coming here to see what it would be like in a cloister and what it would feel like being in a monastery. But before I go, I do have to say there is a fee to get into the museum.Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fascinating to see some many entertaining traders selling their wares on the street. We walked straight down Malcolm X Boulevard and as the phrase goes, all human life is here. As much as we loved our hotel in Manhattan and its environs, Harlem feels more typical of New York life - take that as you wish.Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - craig1086Atlanta, GA1,872 contributionsWas staying down in lower Manhattan, but made a trip up just to be able to see the historic landmark. The area is buzzing. Their's a gift shop in the lobby, but depending on the day, they might not let you in. Love that shows are still happening there all the time. It's right around the corner from the 125th Street station.Written 31 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FarwriterLondon, UK134 contributionsLovely grounds to wander around if you are in the area. Guided tours are available but I didn't do one of those. Worth visiting for the beautiful St Paul's Chapel (NOT the one in lower Manhattan) which has a stunning ceramic tiled domed ceiling.Written 22 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mer21maidCopenhagen996 contributionsThere was a long line to enter the church, but eventually everyone got in. We were some of the last to enter, but we had very good seats.
Service by Senior Pastor Brown was such a great experience, and the gospel music was great. The community was so friendly.
Highlight was the long preach by a female pastor, that was one of the best speeches I heard in my life 🙏🏻Written 25 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Allan SNew York City, NY7,078 contributionsI love to come here as a refuge for the busy city and the best time here is spring. The well maintained flower beds, specimen trees and shrubs snd well maintained walks make this a great spot to relax and recharge. Many young families pushing carriages, school children after their hours snd bus loads of visitors flock here. Great spot to picnic or just hang out or stroll with loved ones 0 seconds Molly one of the best spots to visit located at 105 street and fifth avenue with the opening at the Vanderbilt gate.Written 16 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - toslJersey City, NJ958 contributionsDon't believe the nonsense from the media. The park is clean, quiet, and safe. Stroll around the park and visit the Cloisters Museum. Amazingly, free and ample parking is available - that is like finding a unicorn in Manhattan. Great way to spend the morning.Written 9 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chris NTaastrup, Denmark23 contributionsFantastic service. The congregation was very welcoming to visitors. You could not get a more authentic gospel expericence than this. Also the church in itself is very beautiful.Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Heidi✈🥂Blue Mountains, Australia108 contributionsI think I sat in a daze at this place.
I have been a Seinfeld fan for 30 years and to finally stand outside and see this place was a bit of a thrill I won’t lie.
So the inside looks nothing like it did on the show, assuming most of that was filmed in a studio but nonetheless, the outside did and there was loads of Seinfeld memorabilia inside with photos of the gang being at this iconic place.
We had breakfast there and it was actually really, really good as well!Written 9 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My wife and I were in New York on vacation and we always visit any national park in the area if we can. We both love history and we had to stop by Hamilton Grange. First the park rangers and amazing and they really know there history. It didn't hurt that the ranger we had was also a big Hamilton fan/nerd. She really got into her short history lesson about Hamilton and the Grange. You can tell it was genuine love she had for the site. It was amazing to be the house that Hamilton lived in. Every room had history and it just gave you this feeing of amazement to know he was here and walked, eat ,and slept here. The visitors office is down stairs, they also have some t-shirts and other things you can buy. They do offer a guided tour of the house with a ranger. I highly recommend you take it. They have a bathroom on site and there is also a drinking fountain. The Grange also has a small walking trail that's nice for a short walk. Lots of shade on the grounds. If you want you can sit for bit and take a break. I highly recommend you stop by for a visit.Written 1 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,421 contributionsThis was my third visit to NYC, but the very first time I've visited this memorial.
We did it after our Harlem tour, as the memorial is at the western Harlem, by the Hudson river.
It is set in a beautiful park, with a calm atmosphere. The tree arched walkway made a spectacular site while approaching it.
However, we were disappointed finding it closed due to Covid ??!!Written 23 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Church is situated adjacent to a park along the Hudson River offering a wonderful sunny day outside venue.Written 30 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
