Note that this is located in the wrong place on Trip Advisor. It’s a great venue for activities and for people that enjoy sports.

As others have said, it’s really expensive. $80 for my ten year old and me to rent skates and access the rink. Plus $8 for a locker, which seems even more outrageous. The rink is large but it is busy. The ice is rough but the views are beautiful. We went after dark. We didn’t want to skate that long after walking all over the city all day. I’m glad we did it but I don’t think I’d do it again. Not worth the expense and wait.

This is the highly controversial ice rink that is known as the Trump or the Woolman Rink. Believe many of the workers did not get paid.

Though this review is not written about a track experience, we attended a music and dance performance at the Armory and were in awe of the venue.

Before the show, it was lovely to tour around the different rooms, there was plenty of room, acoustics were great, seats were comfortable and all in all, a wonderful venue for performance art.

The location is great as one does not encounter the crowds of Broadway and other neighborhoods in Manhattan.

I LOVE this gym! I came to NYC on business for 6 weeks and the staff (and fellow climbers) were so wonderful to me! It definitely created a climbing community for me outside of my home gym. The facilities are great with some really fun/challenging climbs. Definitely check them out when you're in Manhattan!

It really is a wonderful park with great views and lots of things to do. However, it sits on top of a sewer treatment plant and sometimes you get a whiff of that smell. It is on the river so you do get a breeze to cut down on any smell.

A great place to ice skate in the city. Rentals possible
Great place for a party. Can handle a large group in a comfortable lounge with very good Italian fare. Chicken and pasta!
Tournament was well organized and supervised
    A professional organization.

I wish I could upload a picture of this beautiful building near the East River. For $75 a year or $10 a year for seniors (62+) you have access to a gym, pool, lockers, showers & different classes every day for free.

While I consider the ability to travel a great blessing, I have to admit that certain complications typically ensue as a result of being away from home. One of those challenges can be how to continue your workout routine (especially as a tennis player). While I don’t have specific recommendations for how to alleviate this situation in all cities, I can provide some assistance when it comes to visiting Manhattan in New York City.

While searching for some “travel tennis” my record has been mixed. For example, on another trip earlier this year I went 0-fer (despite calling and emailing at least half a dozen Clubs). Well no such drama on this trip. My first (and only) call was to the Manhattan Plaza Racquet Club. Their staff was friendly on the phone (and in person) and they did an outstanding job of arranging a Singles match for me (at my ability level) with a member who was also warm and welcoming.

Their 5 indoor courts are well maintained and offer year-round opportunities to play. Quite frankly, when considering all of the times that I’ve attempted to play “travel tennis”, I’ve never encountered a friendlier, more welcoming, or more helpful staff. I merely posed the innocuous question of, “Are there any opportunities to play at your Club while traveling, even though I’m not a member?” I was then so inundated with the options provided to me that I literally needed to take written notes. Sadly, if someone had posed the same question to my tennis club in San Diego the 🚪 would have been slammed so quickly in their face that it would have immediately broken their 👃!

The costs associated with your choice of play here are not insignificant, but a traditional membership is not required.

The locker rooms are also well maintained and the Club was only about a 10 minute walk from our hotel in Time’s Square.

    And that’s…Henry’s Take.

Save yourself a lot of wasted time and bring a padlock with you! Wish we knew this before we arrived as you are promptly sent away if you don’t have one. Even if you arrive in just swim shorts and shoes as you have to put your shoes in a locker. We saw one guy turned away whose only personal possession was a wallet because he didn’t have a padlock. If you don’t bring one with you expect a ten minute round trip and a $5 outlay on a padlock if you want to enter. Security is strict!

There’s nothing except a towel allowed by the pool so don’t expect to be able to read a book or listen to music etc. The lifeguards are also very strict - there’s lots of ‘rules’.

On the plus side it’s a nice pool to cool down in the hot sun and it’s free!
