- MRGlynnLeeds171 contributionsQuite tricky to find, had to ask for directions
It was quite cold when visited, but managed to bag an igloo with a heater which was a Bruce's bonus.
Stunning views.
Service could have been quicker, but worht it sat looking over NYC.
Great little find and well worth a visit.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen FairweatherSwansea, UK502 contributionsThis bar is classed as a dive bar, cheap drinks starting $4 for a pint, shot, and a hot dog. Very friendly staff, and if you have spirits, it's no measure. My gin was so strong I bought a pint of tonic to pour it into. It is truly a very old-fashioned bar with a great atmosphere.Written 20 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Oma329Pittsburgh, PA16 contributionsTrue jazz lovers can’t visit NYC without the Village Vanguard experience. Intimate would be one way to describe the space, but if you’re claustrophobic, you’ll probably want to skip the experience. We purchased tickets in advance and arrived shortly after the doors opened. The doorman let us right in and we were seated close to the stage. In reality, the room is small so you’re never far from the stage no matter where you’re seated and the acoustics are great. Each guest has to buy one drink, but there are lots of options both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. All in all, it was a great night with great music.Written 6 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I've spent most of my life in poverty, and luxury has never been part of my world. But sometimes, for reasons unknown, life changes. I have no kids, no girlfriend, and my friends are often busy with their own lives. So on otherwise uneventful Sundays, I find myself at The Carnegie Club—a place so upscale that I initially felt out of place.
But from my very first visit, I was hooked. The staff, the patrons—everyone is warm and welcoming, making me feel like I must’ve done something great in a past life to deserve it. The hospitality here is unmatched. I even took the time to watch cigar etiquette videos just to ensure I respected the experience fully.
This place has inspired me to care about how I present myself again. I had stopped dressing up, but now, coming here makes me want to. Supporting this establishment gives me a sense of purpose. I feel honored to be treated so well, and I truly don’t understand the bad reviews—if anyone should be treated poorly, it’s me, yet I’m welcomed as if I’ve always belonged.
The atmosphere is magnificent. The lighting is perfect, and I can always find my own secluded spot to unwind. I’ve visited many lounges across all five boroughs, including Club Macanudo, but The Carnegie Club stands above them all. The food? Incredible. The mixed meat platter has become a staple for me.

Venue was absolutely perfect, intimate and totally authentic. We were a group of four near the stage and the two waitresses serving the room were probably the best waitresses I have ever come across, gliding across the room serving and noticing everyone what seemed like totally effortlessly. Highly recommend this for an evening. Does get busy though but then well it should…Written 17 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jill Z7 contributionsRight up front and got picked on which is EXACTLY what we wanted! Small venue for more interaction. Fast Service. Good food. Went to 6:30 show which was sold out. - alis 87Aprilia, Italy8 contributionsThis place is so cool! I have always wanted to visit it. Prices are crazy but if you want to enjoy the Village, you cannot go to the Cafe Wha. My experience has been awesome, except for the price of 3 beers: 40💰!Written 25 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephanie JNew York, New York, United States216 contributionsLet's just say I've been to the Box a million times with my girls!! A million times with promoters!! Every time I went the owners were very nice to me and invited me to come back. Now I visit 2 girls 2 guys. And we were treated like Donkey Cattle!!!!
We were willing to spend some money. Then a promoter said I could come in with his crew at the same exact time the doorman was being extremely rude. So ......very confusing.
So TripAdvisor people..... just a heads up before you go. If your a single girl you may get treated like a princess but as a couple , quite the exact opposite.Written 14 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Visually amazing restaurant with a good, happy atmosphere and music playing in the background. Lots of memorabilia to view and read about the history of the building. The restaurant is accessed through the gift/clothes shop upstairs. It was busy but we were able to get a table for five as a 'walk in'. We were seated right away by really friendly, happy, attentive staff. Expected main course portions to be bigger than they were (burger and chips) by USA standards but the ice cream sundae's/desserts were huge and tasted amazing! Meals were expensive but you are paying for the experience of eating in the iconic Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square NYC so that is to be expected!Written 26 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DACtravelerNew York, New York4 contributionsThe whole experience is incredible! You have to see a show here. It is a unique theatrical experience from the moment you check-in for the night. The food was delish, the service was great and the show was incredible! There are sooooooo many talent people in that show! I felt like I was in a super exclusive club and got a real 70's disco vibe, but way cooler. If you don't experience this you will regret it.Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michelle H4 contributionsFood menu is mostly snack/appetizer food. Extensive drink menu, but the real selling point is the georgeous view.
If you are looking for a light snack/drink for a short time after a show, this is a good place to go.Written 21 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walk down the dark scary alley was all part of the experience. Great swing music. Good drinks, and the bouncer Roger took us back in time to prohibition era NYC.Written 23 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
