Not being a local, but having been to my fair share of street festivals, when our friends who live in Maui asked us to attend First Friday, we were game. I’m glad we took them up on the offer as we had a good time. I know where I’m from we tend to have bigger street fairs, but this is a small town on an island so expect a much smaller venue. There were plenty of food vendors to pick from and while we are both meat eaters, one of our friends is not and there were plenty of vegan options. My fiancé visited “The Corn Project” booth where there were dressing ears of corn in all sorts of “toppings,” he got the Mexican option and it was amazing. There are two sections here for bands to setup. One section I was told is geared towards more local music, when I say local I mean Hawaiian. This ended up being our favorite area as there were multiple hula groups who were performing around the stage. The stage towards the back of the festival had a more mainstream pop cover band, which was also very good. In the area of the second band one will find multiple food trucks, everything from Thai, Mexican to bbq, there were plenty of food options to pick from. There are also a lot of local artisans selling their items. I bought a pineapple lime hot sauce from Hana Farms. Since I’ve been home I’ve put this sauce on tons of stuff. It goes really well on a burger, with a pineapple on a sweet Hawaiian bun. Definitely can’t wait till we’re back on the island next year to visit this little street fair.

I had bought a Ukulele from Mele in Wailuku about 15 years ago and was very happy with my purchase. Decided to drop in again on my trip in August 2022 and was helped by Annie. She was very helpful, friendly and knew a lot about what she was selling. Ended up buying another one and had it shipped to me. Look forward to getting it. They have a great selection and something for every budget. Prices are reasonable. They now have three locations in Maui.
Same owners for 28 years I believe. They are Ukulele experts and the Wailuku store is their original store.

This amazing shop was recommend to us by our server at a restaurant in Lahaina. We were on the hunt for authentic Hawaiian shirts and Native Intelligence did not disappoint. We ended up walking out with more than the shirts and the fact that so much of what's in the shop is made locally was just a bonus. The owners and staff couldn't have been friendlier as well.

A selection of locally grown veggies for sale
Tuesday thru Sunday at Kumu Farms inside the Maui Tropical Plantation.
Got the bag of greens, cucumbers, red peppers, sweet potatoes, zucchini , radishes, celery and the red lettuce were 2 for 1 on sale.
Also bought some locally made salad dressings. This is all local food and seasonings products.
On Saturdays and Sundays there can be a few items on sale. Prices are fair considering the quality of the fruits, veggies, herbs etc.
After the veggie shopping I went to their outdoor Lanai and take out to get a cappuccino to go. . . One for the road. It has become my coffee pitstop when I am driving from Central Maui heading back to Kaanapali. .free parking and a nice walk around the gardens.

If you are looking for something a little different to do on your vacation in Maui, head up to Wailuku for the day. Stop at Stilwell's bakery for the best cream pie you have ever tasted and then wander up the main street of the old town. There is a terrific record store called Request and local tshirt place called Maui Thing. Cute clothing for the whole family. A nice change from the chain stores found in the malls and a chance to see a less touristic part of the island. If you get a chance try to be there when the town hosts Wailuku Days. Great food and music.

Needed to get my engagement ring resized while on vacation & Gary was kind enough to be able to do this the same day we dropped it off. I was so happy to be able to wear it for our entire vacation. We also got to look at some of his original designs and sketches. Gary is incredibly talented. I love the wave ring that he designed! I will definitely visit the next time I'm in Maui. If I ever need something custom designed, I know where to go! If we weren't tight on money because of our upcoming wedding we would have splurged and bought something, next time!

I was searching for the Wailuku Coffee shop on Google maps.
After parking the rental, I noticed Sandell Artworks on the same side of the street.
The shop sells artworks for the walls and clothing with the artwork.
I bought a print of Makena.

This shop is located directly across from the Pacific Whale Foundation Shop in Wailuku.

Maui Gift Outlet is open early so that people going to see the whales can get a hot cup of coffee and a muffin before the trip.

The store prices are great and the owner is someone very special, affable and helpful. Oscar is his name.

My wife and I enjoyed our chats with Oscar and were disappointed that we could not have chatted with him longer. On our next visit to Maui we certainly will go back the see him.

Our day tour to Hana was a great experience. Our tour guide Kioni was wonderful at talking about the history and explaining the sights along the way. Had we driven the road to Hana ourselves we would not have seen or learned about the sights of the area. Great day!

First let me give props to Josh!! Terrific guy and knows his music. So this place has every kind of music in every shape and form. I found a few old vinyl records in nice shape and not a big price tag. Downstairs there are thousands of records for 2 bucks a piece. If u like to dig have at it. Not the cleanest place in the world and not the greatest hood but worth going and checking out.
