The falls are a mesmerizing experience. The sheer volume of water, magnitude and scenery was captivating and unforgettable. The walk from the parking lot to the falls are surrounded by incredible scenery of small water falls and jungle. Overall a fabulous experience.

The falls is easily accessible and offers a couple of great views. One from the front and additional views from the side from an elevated areas accessed by stairs. Not to be missed are the incredible Banyan trees, which are incredible in appearance and size. A great stop.

Our family of five from Texas and Oklahoma visited Oahu and the Big Island for Spring Break! While staying in Hilo, we walked to the park a couple times. The park is Beautiful and lots of tropical plants and flowers! A very relaxing place to walk around and enjoy the gorgeous views!! We did some geocaching at the park and also saw lots of crabs! Our grandsons loved looking for, finding and watching the crabs!! Would definitely recommend a visit to this park if in Hilo!

Worth the drive, but I was expecting to see so much more from the visitors' center than we did. The center is surrounded by hillsides/mountains. Still very pretty, but it's likely better to go all the way to the summit. We chose not to keep going due to the high winds and lack of oxygen. Be sure to bring your coats to the visitors' center too...we went from 82 degrees to 52 degrees very quickly!

Don't miss the Farmer's Market in Hilo! Many handmade crafts, paintings, photographs for sale under the tents; cross the side street to find an impressive
selection of fresh fruits, veggies, coffee, honey, etc. Lots of little shops and good lunches within easy walking distance.

So worth the time spent in this amazing museum. Visiting the second floor will give one an idea of the journey these islands have taken to statehood. Concise and interesting information.

The ladder makes steady going into the water for kids and adults, alike. The lava rocks can make for unsure footing, so the metal ladder going from the pathway into the water was greatly appreciated. Our 7 year old in the group enjoyed snorkeling, saw some interesting small fish. The water was chilly, but the 3 year old quickly adapted and enjoyed walking in the shallows. There are picnic shelters for getting out of the sun and tables for setting up for lunch, lawn for sunbathing. No amenities except bathrooms, so plan to bring your own food and drinks, etc. This is a very beautiful, family-friendly beach park!

If you are willing to climb around on the lava rocks and cross some water you can see lots of turtles in the shallow waters or sunning. You can get close for pictures but it is physically a climb to the protected water. Worth it! There is a lifeguard and a small sand beach to enter the bay. Further out there is a current. Snorkeling is good. Many picnic tables.

We stayed 3 nights at this inn. Short drive outside of Hilo proper. It's not cheap but it's worth the money! Very clean, very beautiful, with fantastic views, wonderful walking paths, bamboo garden, and of course the waterfall and its pool. Unfortunately the water was too murky to go in while we were there because of heavy rains. The room price includes good breakfasts, served on the lanai. The furnishings are beautiful, staff are very friendly and hospitable, and there are plenty of lovely and comfortable places to read, walk, meditate, or just hang out. Highly recommend, and we would stay there again for sure.
