The views from the top of the mountains are fantastic, although some some smoke hides the sunrise.
The walk down the mountain provides beautiful sights of nature, small villas and waterfalls.
The tour operator (Mapping the Himalayas) provides an excelent service - good breakfast, snack during the tour, safe walking and orientation and support to the group members, and no hurry - allowing the group to walk on their desired pace with stops for photografy whenever desired.

Haridwar is hot in days during April and bit colder during nights. You can get so many trains from Delhi, har ki pauri is very closed to haridwar railway station and you can easily reach by e-rickshaw by just 20 rs/person. If in case you won't get direct train and you plan suddenly. You can have connecting trains via delhi to laksar by ktw-anvt express departing from anand vihar terminal at 21:45 and reach laksar by 01:41 am next day. From laksar there are many trains to haridwar. Ganga aarti in night is awesome you can enjoy. Not many places to visit nearby, you can easily reach rishikesh by trains from haridwar or by auto. Ram jhula & janki setu are the famous spots to visit.
Punjabi dhaba in front of railway station is having very nice food, jain chat corner is only hype don't go there.

Great experience. I hired a driver from DEL and made the whole trip pretty easy. Didn’t spend a lot of time in Rishikesh (4-5 hours) but Haridwar was a real experience. I stayed in a really nice hotel right on the river and doing the 2 local trams to see the temples was great. The evening prayer was the highlight. Quite an experience.

I contacted Sachin from INDIA TREKKING AND TOURS to arrange Trip for my family to Kunjapuri temple to Neer waterfall trek . I found them Via tripadvisor and I have short listed them because most of the reviews seem genuine and generally positive.

With help of India trekking tours our tour went very well and got successfully completed. We highly recommend this company for any trip and trek in India.

The short summary is - I recommend this excursion. The sunrise from the Kunjapuri Temple was beautiful and the trek down was really enjoyable. Selesh (I hope I spelled that correctly) was a great guide and we really enjoyed our time with him. We had a great, easy conversation as we hiked down the hillside.

Things to know: In looking at the various excursions, it can get very confusing which excursions offers what, what they don’t offer, what are the differences, etc.. So hopefully this helps: You will be picked up at (or near) your hotel and driven to the Kunjapuri Temple. The drive is about 30-45 minutes. After watching the sunrise, you’ll grab a quick breakfast from a vendor near the temple. You’ll then hike down the mountain for about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs into Tapovan. We stopped by the Secret Waterfall (not so secret) and then went to a nearby watering hole. We soaked there for a bit and then finished the trek. In our case, the path went right by our hotel, so we finished at that point. If you don’t happen to be staying near the end point, you’ll be offered a ride back to your hotel.

A couple of notes, this is not a private trip, so unless you have a large group, you may have a few others with you. In my case, it was my partner and myself, and one solo traveler from Germany. The path down isn’t difficult, but you really need some experience hiking in the wilderness. In spots the trail can be steep and covered with lose rocks (scree). That said, you don’t need trek poles and can easy just walk down. The reason I mention this is that your group’s speed will be gated by the slowest hiker. If you’re someone who likes to hike quickly and cover lots of ground, you may have to adjust your expectations if one of the other party members isn’t a fast hiker.

All that said, we really enjoyed our trip and I have no reservations in recommending this trip.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND exploring Rishikesh and northern India with Japam! As a solo female traveler to India for my first time, this sunrise day-hike to Kunjapuri Temple was the perfect way to explore the natural beauty of Rishikesh. Himanshu and Sarah are the most gracious guides and some of the kindest people I've had the pleasure of meeting -- incredibly hospitable and providing for us like old friends. Their commitment to curating a meaningful experience, combined with the natural beauty of the locations they curate, makes for an unforgettable experience. They tailored the trek to suit our preferences, ensuring that every aspect of the journey was both enjoyable and informative. Their attention to detail was evident in how seamlessly they managed logistics, from transportation to ensuring we had adequate water and snacks (and the perfect amount of chai breaks!). I am so grateful for the both of them and can't wait for my next trek with them!

The trek to Kunjapuri Temple was breathtaking, both in its spiritual significance and scenic beauty. Himanshu's expertise in local history enriched our experience, making the visit more than just a hike but a journey through the cultural heart of Rishikesh. The visit to Neer Waterfall was the perfect culmination of our trek. Himanshu provided us with ample time to enjoy the serene beauty of the waterfall, ensuring our safety while allowing us to relax and take in the natural splendor.

What sets Japam apart is their genuine care for their clients. Himanshu and Sarah went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout the trek and after. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to share their insights about the local culture and environment made our experience incredibly special.

Aside from our trek, Himanshu is an INCREDIBLE yoga instructor. He is deeply knowledgeable about his craft and provides the perfect hands-on assist to refine your practice. His studio, located in Upper Tapovan in Rishikesh, artistically cultivates the peaceful and clarifying energy that is Rishikesh and her people. Highly recommend any drop-in classes!!

We got to see a ton in one day! Deebak was our driver and he got to our hotel early which was nice. He took us to both cities and gave us time to either explore with him or on our own, which we enjoyed. The cities were filled with shopping, sports activities, and beautiful views. We enjoyed the clean car that Deebak transferred us in all day!
