Did a session with Valeria just before the birth of Zion. We love the Columbia Gorge! We go here whenever we want to see epic river views. If you're visiting Portland, definitely go to the Columbia Gorge!

To avoid the masses and touristy crowds, I arrived the falls at 8pm mid June. Very few people. You can easily take a photo of the whole falls include the bridge with no one on it. Very picturesque. Yes, a must see. And for those who may think the movie “Lord of the Rings” was filmed there, the answer NO. It was not. I did the research.
Easy walk to the bridge 0.2 miles up paved way. 20-30 minutes stay and photo taking is plenty.
Not the parking (very limited spots during the day, plenty available at 8pm) costs $20 before 6pm and $10 after 6. It is on the historic route.

Inspired by a visit to Bridal Veils Falls and then some YouTube videos, we decided to join the Columbia River Highway at Exit 17 of the I84 and stop off at some of the viewing points, before coming off again at Bridal View, having tried, unsuccessfully, to park at Multnomah Falls.

Described en route as the 'Historic' Columbia River Highway, this was constructed at the beginning of the 20th Century to give access to the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge to drivers of the day, so the roads are sweeping and ascents and descents gentle; although other reviewers are correct in saying that the road is, at times, quite narrow for modern vehicles, particularly the iron bridges, which really require drivers to go across from one direction at a time.

If you have the time, it is a much more leisurely and relaxed route to take, up through wooded vales and passing river views and small communities.

Viewpoints are well signposted and are well worth stopping at for photo opportunities and to take in the scenery, some of them are high enough to really give you a bird's eye view of the river and you can see for miles.

At times, of course, one is merely driving parallel to the Interstate Highway and the Amtrak line but, when you turn off onto quieter roads, it is lovely.

0.2 miles from parking lot, but the paved way up is a little bit steep. Nice, but not impressive…. It is 3rd after Latourell and Multnomah Falls, as my favorite that I saw and reached.

Shepperd's Dell is probably a bit less well known than Multnomah Falls, but is a very beautiful waterfall. You can pull off the highway to hike up to and take photos at the falls. Parking however is very limited. The walk to the falls is very doable. You can get very close to the falls and it provides a great backdrop for photos.

This Outlet Mall has been there for years and years, or at least this is how it appears. It is nice because they have walkways outside but also there is protective glass to protect you from the elements. Store choices are good and there is something for everyone. It does have all the typical outlet stores and worth a stop if you are in the area.

It is a beautiful area and you can get in a really good walk. Hours if you really explore. Lots of dogs but they were well behaved. My only criticism is that there are too few public restrooms. The one at the parking lot is the only one I know of. Considering the high numbers of people visiting and the amount of time a walk may take, more facilities are needed.

I have used this park for parties, Girl Scout events, Cub/Boy Scout events, and just hanging out with my kids. Beautifully kept/landscaped park with toys for the kids, covered areas, etc.

Going here makes you wished you had talent! All the sculptures were so lifelike. We got to meet the artists and walk through the studio. Highly recommend!

This is one of the gorge's gems. the hike starts of the old Columbia river highway, then climb over a very large log jam, and then walk thru waist deep water to get to the falls. The climb over the log jam can be very difficult as everything is very slippery. Unfortunately the Eagle Creek fire has caused allot of damage and if we have a bad winter the log jam could grow to an impassable; also the old road may not be open until next summer. Attached are pictures in June before the fire.
