The Pittock Mansion, once home to publisher Henry Pittock, is a beautiful mansion and property in Portland. This historic estate has early 20th-century architecture and history on the Pittock family's legacy. The real highlight, though, is the panoramic view—it’s one of the best spots to take in the entire city of Portland. A perfect mix of history, beauty, and breathtaking scenery! So much history here.

The science museum itself is fine - lots of stuff for kids to do, but really not for adults. However, the submarine is fantastic! Highly recommended.

Just be aware that everyone needs to be able to step *unaided* through a couple of small doors onboard. That means little kids have to be able to do it themselves. There's a practice door inside the museum and the staff will check that everyone can handle it. A little girl in our tour group was very close to not being allowed to go, but all the other kids in our group worked together to encourage her.

Some extraordinarily beautiful countryside in this agricultural valley noted for excellent wines. We stopped at one simple winery for a good tasting and noted that there were several guest houses nearby. Close to the city.

Don't worry about going to the museum while it's under renovation - it is still open and functional, and has really neat exhibits! We caught the French masters one (I've never seen a Monet or Rodin in person!) and also got a peek at another exhibit behind with all sorts of eclectic art. I really enjoyed my trip here - a great way to spend a few hours downtown!

Even if Portland is your home and have never been to the visitors center, definitely recommend stopping by. I was greeted right away and was given so many great recommendations with a marked up map! Thank you for the warm welcome to Portland!

We decided last minute, to see the "Mid Summer's night dream" at this theatre. You can get drinks before or during intermission. They can provide you a plastic cup to take into the theatre. The performance was wonderful. We had a great time. It was reasonable priced, and we had great seats.

Really fun time. Had a delicious pizza and beer at Tillamook Station beforehand, and then rode the Saturday train on the Springwater. Love the museum and everyone there was so happy to be there. Please support the great work these guys are doing to keep history alive and provide fun affordable train rides to the public.

Excellent tour with amazing value considering the mini cocktail and samples provided of this high-end whiskey. One in our group was quite reluctant to go; by the end of the tour he was raving about it and planned to join the whiskey club! Thanks Riley for the experience! We will be back.

Magnificant place, worth a visit even if you do not want to use the library. The staircase from the first to the second floor alone is worth a stop (Central Library on the streetcar).

If you actually want to go to a library, you can't do much better than this one. It has loads of periodicals, computer stations on all three floors, an excellent children's reading room, and a choice staff, all of whom seem to me to be happy employees, and they are more than willing and totally competent to help you out.

Not as iconic as the famous New York City library on 42nd Street, but a landmark building in its own right.

I've been to the Keller Auditorium many times, this time for Madame Butterfly, and, as ever, the performance was outstanding. I've been to the Met, too, and the cast in Madame Butterfly could easily sing at the Met - they were that good. Unfortunately, and for reasons I just don't understand, this wonderful venue spends next to nothing on food and drink. Why? Every ballpark in America makes money hand over fist with concessions while the Keller offers cookies, pretzels, et al instead of delectable finger foods that they could charge mightily for and sell out. The same can be said for their drink offerings. I'm not suggesting they open a fully stocked bar, but red, white or water leaves everything to be desired. Still, you go there for the performances and they never disappoint, so eat before or after and enjoy the performances. Someday they'll wise up and stop missing out on all the money they are leaving in patron pockets.

Yep, it’s a bookstore. And more. It has Portland souvenirs, puzzles, games etc. many displays that show popular books in different genres, staff picks, Powell’s picks, classics etc. There are used books and books on sale. 3 levels. I am a book lover (but I’m talking Libby not actual books) but I went here just because it’s in Portland’s tourist list. I ended up staying here quite a long time. Got so many ideas for books to read. Great, exhaustive book store. Highly highly recommending you are a reader.

Stopped in here while I was wondering Washington Park! They were having a free admission day so I checked it out. Lots of hands on displays and vignettes. Kids will love it. Not sure what the actual admission is but I'd say a good value at $10-15. Not sure I'd pay anything higher than that.

This was one of the things that came up on the “things to see in Portland” list we saw before traveling. It’s a fun spot to go to if you’re in the city. It’s pretty small so I’m not sure if it’s necessarily worth $10, but I enjoyed it. There are fun things to look at, as well as the gift shop.

Hot tip: if you go into the “museum” there is a bathroom, which is pretty scarce in Portland
