What travellers are saying
- Sara G.Saint Louis, MO721 contributionsThe Portland Japanese Garden, like other Japanese Gardens, is a serene and meticulously designed garden with traditional Japanese landscaping. Located within Washington Park, the garden spans 12 acres, featuring eight unique garden styles, including the tranquil Sand and Stone Garden, the lush Strolling Pond Garden, and the peaceful Tea Garden. It’s peaceful to walk around Japanese Gardens.Written 16 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Philip dUnited Kingdom187 contributionsThe gardens we still worthwhile seeing in late August, the gardens were well worth visiting. These 'Test Gardens' are very interesting. It was well worth seeing and quite interesting.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sara G.Saint Louis, MO721 contributionsThe Pittock Mansion, once home to publisher Henry Pittock, is a beautiful mansion and property in Portland. This historic estate has early 20th-century architecture and history on the Pittock family's legacy. The real highlight, though, is the panoramic view—it’s one of the best spots to take in the entire city of Portland. A perfect mix of history, beauty, and breathtaking scenery! So much history here.Written 16 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CountryGal5759Jackson, OH538 contributionsWe found the park by chance on our way to the Portland Japanese Gardens. The aroma was unforgettable. We smelled the roses before we entered the park. So many beautiful roses overlooking the city. So beautifully maintained. Wish we would have gone here and skipped the entrance fee for the japanese gardens. We actually spent more time here and enjoyed the free park more than the Japanese Gardens.Written 1 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sara G.Saint Louis, MO721 contributionsThe Redwood Observation Deck in Portland, Oregon, is unpopular short hike that you wouldn’t know about. The journey to the deck is enchanting. The trail winds through lush greens and towering redwoods. Their immense trunks and lofty canopies are unmatched by anything I’ve ever seen before. The air is cool and crisp with the heavy scent of pine and earth. As you approach the observation deck, the trail opens up to a panoramic view. Definitely take this short hike if you have 30 minutes.Written 16 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - azroyalsfanPhoenix, AZ350 contributionsStopped in here while I was wondering Washington Park! They were having a free admission day so I checked it out. Lots of hands on displays and vignettes. Kids will love it. Not sure what the actual admission is but I'd say a good value at $10-15. Not sure I'd pay anything higher than that.Written 7 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PH2003Denver, CO380 contributionsThis was one of the things that came up on the “things to see in Portland” list we saw before traveling. It’s a fun spot to go to if you’re in the city. It’s pretty small so I’m not sure if it’s necessarily worth $10, but I enjoyed it. There are fun things to look at, as well as the gift shop.
Hot tip: if you go into the “museum” there is a bathroom, which is pretty scarce in PortlandWritten 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are some moderate inclines, and it can get muddy during the rainy season, it’s advisable to check weather before going. Overall, it's perfect for a peaceful and scenic hike.Written 13 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jessica KTarpon Springs, FL631 contributionsBeautiful park, easy access and free. So many roses! Well maintained rose garden in the ‘Rose City.’ Nice place to stroll about, maybe have an icee at the food truck or bring your own picnic.Written 24 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Houdah APortland, OR95 contributionsVery beautifully done and makes you stop and reflect on many things. I felt a bit emotional especially when you reach the end of the annual monuments with the random factoids and it says that these were the events both great and small that 751 Oregon men were not to see again.Written 22 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,282 contributionsPortland has loads of incredible bridges, with the Fremont being one of the most impressive and probably the highest. The bridge carries I-495 traffic on two levels and offers fabulous views of the city.Written 4 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donna MSan Diego, CA5 contributionsDid I finally find a whiskey that I like? Yes I did! Infact, I found several! I was recommended this location and I'm so thrilled I visited. The rye whiskey was exceptional and I ended up buying a far amount.Written 27 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - patshea2016Norridge, IL230 contributionsToday was my first day in Portland. As the cathedral is downtown, I knew I wanted to visit today. Tonight’s 5:30 evening Mass was beautiful! Tonight’s evening Mass was well attended! I was so happy to see the church just about full tonight. The priest gave an excellent homily. The music was beautiful! There were many voices singing tonight. While in the downtown Portland area, be sure to stop at the cathedral whether for a moment of quiet prayer and reflection or one of their daily Masses. I am looking forward to returning.Written 16 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
