The Redwood Observation Deck in Portland, Oregon, is unpopular short hike that you wouldn’t know about. The journey to the deck is enchanting. The trail winds through lush greens and towering redwoods. Their immense trunks and lofty canopies are unmatched by anything I’ve ever seen before. The air is cool and crisp with the heavy scent of pine and earth. As you approach the observation deck, the trail opens up to a panoramic view. Definitely take this short hike if you have 30 minutes.

We stopped by the wildlife refuge on a sunny Saturday morning to get in a quick walk before the rain set in. This is a nice little sanctuary next to the river in SE Portland. We were able to bring our (leashed) dog along with us, and enjoyed seeing the pretty water and sights, including a view of Mount Saint Helens. We also saw a fair amount of wildlife, including a couple bald eagles flying over the small lake. Parking was easy at the lot at the south end (at Sellwood Park). Overall it was a nice place to get out into a little bit of nature for a couple hours.

This facility rehabs native birds, has an incredible gift shop and is close to some really wonderful trails through the deep Doug Pine Forest.

This is a wonderful urban park with two nice little lakes that host tons of wildlife, especially birds of all types. Highly recommend! You can bike in a loop from N. Portland along the railroad cut for a good 7-8 mile ride.

Very limited trails, littering has been prevelent. Civil defense bomb shelter is completely sealed up with concrete, dont even think about trying to break in.
With some work, it could be a really cool place.
