Outstanding bridge. Unlike other bridges in Portland, this bridge illuminates beautifully at night. This is very close to OMSI.

This truss bridge over Willamette river is imo the true Portland symbol. It's a double decker bridge with cycles/pedestrians on the lower level and cars on the upper one. We drove twice across it.
It's a draw bridge with two independent lifts on its pillars. Best seen from the promenade beneath.

Picture perfect. If you visit Multnomah falls, take a bit of time to go up to the bridge, if you are physically able. The mist from the upper falls is very refreshing.

This is one of the bridges that open for water traffic, but I did not have a chance to see it open. However, the bridge itself is looking interesting, and you should be able to see this from distance if you are hanging along the river parks.

This historic and relative attractive bridge is definitely worth a walk across. Each end provides insight to different slices of life as it's easy to explore inner city Portland from the east and the west. It's not a long walk and it allows for nice views of the city, especially at night.

Portland has loads of incredible bridges, with the Fremont being one of the most impressive and probably the highest. The bridge carries I-495 traffic on two levels and offers fabulous views of the city.

Work on the Broadway Bridge has just been completed and its antiquated system of drawing up for ship traffic rebuilt. It' an interesting story to read before or after visiting the bridge. There are so many ways to take this in; streetcar, buses, cars, bikes, and just walking. It's one of the iconic Portland bridges but this one, being higher over the river, offers terrific views in both directions, upriver and downriver.

I would like to think that the Morrison Bridge was named after Jim Morrison, but it is not. The original Morrison bridge was a wood bridge named after a Scottish chap named John L Morrison back in the 1880's. Needless to say, John L Morrison never had nay a hit song in the Pop Charts. So as far as I'm concerned-- It's the Jim Morrison Bridge. All we need is a conga line of LA WOMEN and this Bridge could be a ral swinging door of perception

It was built in 1958 and is a bascule style Bridge. It has been on the Register Of Historic Places since 2012.

I have never seen this double-leaf Chicago style bascule lift like mirror images of a castle draw bridge having a face off the whole Time I've lived here. I guess my timing must be off, eh? With all the rain we have had and the higher river level you would think it would raise much more often. But at least I did see the Hawthorne Bridge lift to let the Portland Spirit pass underneath it recently while I was walking across the Morrison Bridge-- GREAT! So it is a good bridge as far as a place to view the surrounding scenery.

I must admit that the Morrison Bridge itself is rather dull to view as you walk across it. You see just an expanse of roadway going off into the distance of ramps, exits, and whatnot. The pedestrian walkway on the south side of the bridge is very wide and plenty of room for the more massive of pedestrians.

Be sure to bring a camera to take photos of the views that you have of the river, the waterfront, and the other bridges. And their is access from the Morrison Bridge down to the Eastbank Esplanade. That is worth a long walk and all the more views of all the bridges from the Steel Bridge to the North all the way to The Hawthorne Bridge. Right at river level.

The St. Johns Bridge is a steel suspension bridge that spans the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, United States, between the Cathedral Park neighborhood in North Portland and the Linnton and Northwest Industrial neighborhoods in Northwest Portland. It carries the U.S. Route 30 Bypass. Constructed in 1929.

I have never like the loom of this so called bridge. It looks like a gigantic slot car track snaking over the Willamette River and weaving its tentacles to snarl traffic. It was opened in 1966 with the upper deck sending traffic northward. While the lower deck spits out the Southbound traffic. Yeah, it is a functional eyesore. Gets you where you need to go. But sure doesn't amount to a hill of beans to look at. Somewhere beneath all that concrete spaghetti are people and businesses that wounder where the view of their city went.

On the plus side? It gives the homeless a sheltered place to pitch their tents and stay dry.

I walked across this bridge...finally. You can only do this on the Portland, north, side of the bridge. Kinda death defying to have those cars a couple of inches away. When you get to the east side there is a pok poks and a sausage store. You can return on the Tillicum bridge. Very long bridge and I bet you will be the only walker.

I had never seen the original Sellwhod Bridge that was built back in 1925. itt one was Portland's first fixed span bridges. The new Sellwood Bridge that replaced it recently is a deck arch style bridge. It connects the Sellwood and Westmoreland part of Portland on the east side with Macadam Avenue on the West side. The new bridge opened in February 2016.

A Tip for people wishing to take a nice photograph of the bridge: there is a good view of the Sellwood Bridge from the Sellwood Waterfront Park and from the dock that is located there.
