We stopped at Starvation Creek Falls since it was nearby Hood River and was close to the road. Once we parked it was only 0.1 miles to walk a paved or gravel path up the creekside to view the waterfall. There were benches a tables to sit and have a picnic, plus restrooms near the parking lot. Very easy to access for a quick photo stop, or you could walk the path to the west to see more falls. Kind of a one and done place, unlike Multnomah Falls, but still worth a visit.

We didn't make the whole loop but walked for 3 waterfalls: Starvation Creek Falls (just 5 minutes of the partking lot), then going West on Starvation Ridge Trail # 414 to see Cabin Creek Falls and continue our walk toward Hole in the Wall Falls. All 3 are wonderful to see and experience to photograph. There are restrooms by the parking lot at Starvation Creek Falls and picnic table with bances at the Hole in the Fall Falls. The trail is shady, nicely paved and pleasant to walk. It took us about 1 hr 15 minutes to see all of them without hurry!

This campground was situated perfectly for our Hood River/The Dalles/Cascade Locks visit. It's small, yet sites aren't too close to each other. The river and train tracks are on one side and Interstate 84 is on the other.
Yes. It's quite loud all night long with semi trucks buzzing by on the freeway and noisy trains with horns on the other side. I used noise-cancelling earbuds and we were able to sleep (my husband grew up in boarding homes and can sleep through anything!)
It was our first trip with a 1964 Winnebago we're restoring. First time towing it and the site I selected was A26 because it was the ADA (disabled) site. Extremely difficult angle for backing in a trailer! My husband hasn't backed up a trailer in 20 years and this angle was really difficult. The ranger told him they often block off the road to allow those who stay in A26 to drive in the opposite direction to park their rig because of the angle. Wish we'd known THAT ahead of time.
Also, I chose that site because I'm handicapped and I'm thinking it would be closest to restrooms, no steps, bathroom facilities that will be helpful to me.
Yet there were no ADA toilets or showers... what? I mentioned this to the ranger when I saw her and she said there was an ADA stall (with a shower, toilet, bench & sink), but it's on the other side of the building and was being kept locked because the shower was broken. She readily unlocked it so I could at least use that toilet. Grateful for that. But showering remained problematic. There were closer camping spaces to the restroom than A26 (at least it seemed to me) and the paved walkway from our space was extremely uneven because of tree roots. EXTREMELY uneven... hard to walk on with canes or roll across with a wheelchair or motorized scooter.
That aside, the camping area has a beautiful canopy of trees and even though it was hot one of the nights, we stayed cool because of this and the nice breeze from the river.
Easy reservation system online. Nice price ($24 per night). Nice rangers.
