Again and again, remind to have a lot of water (1 liter per person minimum), even starting early it is damn hot and dry out there... There are guided tours, just ask at the entrance, need 10 people (in Spanish) it is fantastic, without guide you will be lost and miss most of the interesting things

Teotihuacan is about 45min drive from CDMX, well worth a trip.

We watched several Youtube videos about Teotihuacan to get some idea and did not use a guide when we were there. A tour guide offered to do a complete tour for around US$85, which we did not use.

Uber was readily available. On Sunday Feb 18th 2024, the Uber fare to Teotihuacan was just under 400 peso. We left Hilton Reforma hotel (Historic Central area) at 8am, and arrived at Gate 1 (Puerta 1) at 845am, without many people. There's a map of the place near the ticket area (95 peso).

Gate 1 is the Quetzalcoatl (Temple of the Feathered Serpent). It was a nice and short walk to the Pyramid of the Sun near Gate 5. This is the largest Pyramid in Teotihuacan.

We then proceeded to the Pyramid of the Moon, then Palace of the Quetzalpapálotl near Gate 3. We finished around 1045am. The Uber fare to go back to Hilton Reforma hotel was 420 peso.

The La Gruta cave restaurant is near Gate 5, a short drive drive from Gate 3, an interesting restaurant to visit.

If you are short of time, you can do the trip using Uber for about 4 hours from CDMX (based on our times - allowing 1 hr of driving time each way, and spending 2 hrs visiting all the main Pyramids starting from Gate 1).

Unmissable. An extraordinary temple in an already amazing place. Worth the extra time to visit and understand. Unique.

We happened to read about this place the day after visiting the pyramids and decided to stop by. There was no charge and we just walked in. It's a series of murals that are pretty interesting to see. Worth checking out!

Spectacular sight. Built between 100 to 400AD, the Pyramid of the Moon sits at the end of the Avenue of the Dead in Teotihuacan. While the equally impressive Pyramid of the Sun that sits down the road is larger in size, I think the Pyramid of the Moon is a more beautiful structure especially with its location at the end of the ancient avenue flanked by other archaeological wonders. You can no longer climb up these structures which is a bit disappointing, but it is probably best for their preservation, and this also provides for some awesome photos when these structures are not swarming with tourists climbing all over them
