Despite the rains and very humid weather this is still a very beautiful place to visit and especially if you love architecture and art. I enjoyed walking around Stone Town and seeing people going about in the everyday lives. The intricate detail in most of the Swahili architecture is just amazing and took several photos of those lovely doors.

After being picked up from our hotel by the driver who was supposed to drive us to the boat, we were very concerned as he pulled over multiple times and made side trips that involved stopping the car, other people coming up to the car, him passing them mysterious baggies and receiving cash in return. Upon arriving at the location where we were supposed to launch, we were already deeply uncomfortable. To make matters worse the boat that was supposed to take us over was in poor condition and the drinking water we were supposed to use was bug infested.

At this point everything so far had been so bad that were not comfortable getting on the boat and decided to cancel the trip and asked our driver to take us back to our hotel. Importunely the "excitement" didn't there. On the drive home our driver got in a car accident then got in a physical fight with three men from the other vehicle. This fight carried over into our vehicle as we were in the back seat. The driver appeared to have stolen the keys to the vehicle that hit us. It seems likely that the "accident" was intentional.

Overall, this booking was a nightmare and a traumatizing experience and not at all what we paid for. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Our tour started off with our wonderful driver Ahmedi he gave us so much great information and was great to just talk to. Our first stop was Jozani forest where we had another great guide with an eagle eye. We got to see so many monkeys up close! Then we headed to Stone town. Our guide was amazing! A local himself he took us all over in a very quick amount of time. He was extremely knowledgeable. He also gave us a great lunch recommendation at the Africa hotel. The food was amazing and the view overlooking the water was wonderful. Then we headed to our last stop the spice farm, a perfect way to end the day. We learned so much and got to try the freshest fruits ever. 12/10 tour!

We had a great time and felt the cost was well worth the experience. You’re picked up directly from your Stonetown hotel, get a tour of the market, the spice farm (which was very informative) and enjoy cooking with others in an intimate setting - experiencing authentic African culture. It took most of the day (we started around 9 and think we finished around 2-3pm). The food we made with our fresh market ingredients and spices from the farm was delicious! Some of the best we had while in Zanzibar. You won’t be disappointed in booking.

We booked a day trip to prison island and to Nakupenda island (sand bank).
We paid extra for a transfer from our hotel near Kendwa Beach to stone town which was $80 including return.
The boat took us to both islands.
The tour guide at Prison island was very informative and helpful we also got to feed the tortoises.
We went on to Nakupenda island which was beautiful ! where they prepared use a beautiful BBQ lunch which tasted incredible and we got to swim and take pictures.
Definitely worth the money and was affordable.
The staff was very friendly and helpful :)

Fantastic day with Ismael from Zan Archipelago tours. It was a long day but we loved each part to it. Ismael made the day fun and interesting with his knowledge and good humor. The day was paced just right, starting with the spice gram with a very tasty lunch and great information about individual spices and their uses followed by a visit to seethe large tortoises when the place was less busy in the afternoon. The final hour and a half in Stone Town was then at the end of the day and we particularly found the slave museum very interesting but tragic of course. We were a group of 4 adults and this trip is definitely worth the long day.

Fantastic evening food tour with a wonderful kind guide! We walked around Stonetown and learned about the different doors and its history. Walked through the large food market like vegetables and seafood and meat. Learned about the different local spices. Tried some delicious Zanzibar food like orojo (hot and sour soup), Zanzibar Pizza, chicken shawarma, and topped off with ginger sugarcane juice at Fordhoni Gardens. SO many cats in Stonetown and so friendly. Everyone was very welcoming, I would highly recommend this tour! Approximate time: 2h45mins.

Great experience! We booked through trip advisor as we wanted everything in one package. After booking, the company contacted us to confirm our details and where we were staying so they could pick us up. The driver was there at the time they advised. Our guide was called Abdul who may I say was the best guide I have ever had. He was really informative and knew his history about the whole of Zanzibar and Tanzania. We started off at the aquarium which was beautiful. Abdul was our personal photographer who caught some amazing moments. After we headed to Stone Town to get the boat over to Prison Island. The boat took approximately 20-30 minutes but went quick as Abdul was telling us more about the history of the country and also about Prison Island and why it was built. We arrived at Prison Island and we made our way around capturing the historic views. You will also find the oldest turtle on the island which is 109 years old. After here we went to Stone Town and did the tour. Half way through the tour we stopped at the Secret Garden restaurant for lunch. Lunch is not included so please make sure you take money for it. You can pay with cash or card. As we had lunch quite late in the day we decided to skip dinner (again this is not included so bring money) and continued the rest of the tour. The day was brilliant and I would recommend you book with these guys.
