Fantastic and beautiful. The house and grounds are wonderful with amazing views of the Hudson. A real gem that is worth the trip to go see.

I had been wanting to visit the FASNY for years after hearing about how great this museum was and it does live up to its reputation. This is a museum that you want to visit if you like anything firefighting related.

The museum is a wonder book of information and equipment. The whole history of firefighting is here. There are fire trucks and engines from all eras to explore, displays on the history of fire fighting, wonderful artifacts that explain the changes over the years and well as interactive displays for kids who might be interested in a career in the service.

I highly recommend it to any firefighting family.

This is an exceptional gallery with well priced art. The selection changes every month so there is always something new and interesting to see. The directors are easy to work with, very responsive, and they pack and ship!!! I have bough things for myself and friends. This is a must see stop for me when I come into Hudson.

Might never get done of course but the Historic Hudson enthusiasts are doing it right. The house is a fascinating study of a project committed to the pursuit of perfection. When it’s open as it was for the design showcase the historic halls come alive.

Going to see a play at Stageworks is a community affair. The venue is intimate, and you're bound to run into someone you know. The "lobby" is more like a friend's living room, with appetizers and drinks available. We've seen a couple of performances, most recently Looped, an alternately hilarious and touching play about a moment in diva Tallulah Bankhead's life.

You need to stop here to pick up local fruits and produce. They offer a good selection of baked goods that are baked on-site. Deli offers Boar;s Head cold cuts as well as a good selection of soft drinks. Iced cream bar is an added treat.

We have cards to the Catskill Library and as a result are able to visit the Hudson library which is also in the Mid Hudson system. They recently moved into the old armory and the new space has been attractively repurposed and makes for pleasant browsing. We also dropped into a mall art show they had there and enjoyed that as well.

We came here for an extremely avant-garde dance performance, accompanied by an associated art gallery. The large building and huge performance space gave a lot of space for the two dancers, props, and a smattering of audience chairs around the outside. The unusual set up ensured every member of the audience felt like it was a nearly personal experience with a unique perspective. Ticketing and the lobby were fairly informal, as you would expect from a local theater. The performance though, was something you might expect to see in a black box in New York City. It was honestly not my favorite show, but I enjoy having my expectations challenged and being pushed out of my comfort zone.

Suarez Family Brewing has become my favorite place to go on my days off. The staff are nice, remember my name even amongst a crowded room. It sounds simple, but this goes a long way. Kate and Adam are always so friendly and accomodating. You can tell these people have a passion for GOOD beer. You can taste it.

Some of my favorite beers they have are the Pilsners (remarkable crisp and refreshing) and the Country Beers. They use ingredients from neigboring communities which speaks to the quality. They also have a smoked lager that is so unique (Stands to Reason). I'd have to say that the thing that sets them apart from a lot of places like them is that they don't have a list stacked with IPAs. They are 8oz. pours, so you can have a few and not be zonked by 7pm. The other big thing is that their beer floats between 4.6% and 5.7% alcohol content, meaning you can actually TASTE the ingredients.

Their beer list is always changing, so if you like something, bring home a bottle. Or get a growler. It's $7 to refill after the first $10 bottle and fill fee.

How could I not mention the baked goods from Tivoli General that they have available each day they're open. I think each day they have fresh pretzels (perfect combo with a Palatine Pils), and fresh loaves of bread. The best though, is on sundays when they have freakin Pimento cheese sandwiches.

I deeply respect their grassroots operation. They seriously could be one of those companies that make 10 different stickers, 15 shirts and trucker hats. But they're all about the beer. I mean, if they had more shirts I would definitely own them. But it's not really important at the end of the day.

The pours are $4, sometimes $5 depending on the beer. Come on. Does that get better? See you this weekend.

Fabulous gallery space for wonderful paintings by artist JoAnne Lobotsky. The gallery a vintage house with a separate vintage 4 story carriage house as additional gallery space. A courtyard separating the buildings typically displays sculpture work. Art openings at the gallery draw interested viewers from NYC to Albany. This is a gem in a very quaint and upscale city of Hudson.
