What travellers are saying
- Jeff ASanta Fe, NM33 contributionsAll four of us in our group raved about our tour. It vastly exceeded our expectations. Boone was both funny and extremely knowledgeable. I also appreciate how they work to preserve the “living rocks” in the cavesWritten 10 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amber HCaney, KS1 contributionWe floated this weekend, 4th of July weekend. It was packed and lots of fun. We have floated the Elk river twice both times the Elk River Floats. Good place and great employees, although their check in process is a bit ridiculous. Should be more convenient for those that book online and pay a 5% conscience fee. It’s not convenient at all. Floaters have to wait for almost an hour to get checked in. For those of you that care. The float is fun but really long. The last mile is so slow through really slow water. Next year we will be looking at floating with Two Sons which is only a 4 mile. 6 miles is too long. Took us 7.5 hours. That’s enough time to get drunk, sober up, and hung over before the end of a slow paddle the entire way last mile.Written 3 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mktexas95Austin, TX50 contributionsIf you’re passing through the area, this family-owned distillery is a must-visit. Conveniently located just off the highway, it offers a warm and welcoming stop. Their selection of moonshine is impressive, and if that’s not your style, they also offer wine, local beer, and other beverage options.
Our bartender, Bailey, was fantastic—friendly and knowledgeable, sharing the history of the distillery and offering creative mix suggestions for the moonshine. They also have unique items like pickles, coffee, and other local treats available for purchase.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He said we could go pick our spot and then wait so he could mow it. Also, that it would be an hour before the bathrooms were clean. They knew we were coming and still were not ready when we got there.
Then the next day we were gonna take a float trip, the guy very rudely told us to get kayaks instead of a raft. Then charged my boyfriend and I $30 each to shuttle our kayaks TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CREEK. We literally could have put in at our campsite.
Then when it came time to pay, we were charged for an 8 person raft instead of 7 kayaks, claiming it was "cheaper" that way.
I would pick a different campground. We will not be back to this site.Written 23 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I would go again.Written 22 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Angel TSmithville, MO48 contributionsFun! The river is super low so there was ALOT of walking the boat through the water. We even got the dog to pull us for a little ways. But, fun was had by all!Written 7 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Carrie BTulsa, OK5 contributionsWe got cabin #2. It was a nice cabin off the camp grounds. We had a few problems but they was fixed very fast. Craig was great and made us all feel right at home.Written 27 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ashley BFredericktown, Missouri, United States18 contributionsThere are 3-4 log cabins and a bunkhouse at this location. There is also a small pool for kids (or big kids too) between the bunkhouse and the cabins. The river is viewable from most spots throughout the grounds. There were also a few places for campers, but space is fairly limited.
As far as activities go, they did have kayaks and rafts for floating the river. There was also a gazebo area and a sand volleyball spot.
Just like any outdoor space, you might want to bring along some bug spray - gnats and mosquitoes were hanging around.
There isn't much as far as shopping nearby either; a Family Dollar within about 10 miles, but that was about it.Written 9 July 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Electrical pedistals were a OSHA nightmare, bare wires, panels missing breaker covers, pedestals that have 2 panels but only 1 -30 amp service, etc. Long hike to the shower house, and the "outhouse" was unusable.Written 4 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
