What travellers are saying
- Doron ZTel Aviv, Israel233 contributionsVery interesting art museum with a wide variety of exhibits. Need a full day to cover all of it, or even more.Written 19 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Beverly M14 contributionsMillennium Park was full of sites -- nature, art, people watching. We enjoyed the sanctuary in the middle of downtown Chicago, surrounded by skyscrapers. The Bean sculpture is fenced up right now while undergoing renovations, but you can still see it. Fun experience for people of all ages.Written 18 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Debbie BDayton, OH14 contributionsNice park. The BEAN is under renovation until April, 2024, and behind a fence with mesh. Hard to get pictures. This park has many other features and is a great place to visit!Written 20 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - erinshero7 contributionsHands-down, this is one of the best museums I've ever been to! I've been to many of the Smithsonian Institute museums in Washington and other museums around the world. This ranks right at the top, because of its interactive nature, fresh exhibits, and variety of content. The fact that they have an actual original German U-boat from WWII is really impressive! Definitely a must see while in Chicago, especially for families!Written 30 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karl S1 contributionVery interesting and well organized.
A nice walk through a very distinctive part of the city. Definitely recommended.Written 29 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great vibe and it was really cool to walk around Wrigleyville before the game. We took the train which was super convenient cause taking an Uber would have been uber-expensive! The train station is right next to the stadium.Written 30 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- mohanthomas9362Toronto, Canada2 contributionsWe enjoyed the river architecture cruise, MJ the musical, the deep dish pizza and the food at the Girl and the Goat restaurant.Written 7 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Terry LLos Angeles, CA112 contributionsBe ready for waiting in a few lines, but it’s worth the view and experience. Before ascending the elevator you have an architectural and icon overview of the city. Once on top…. We’ll on the 103rd floor, take in all the angles at your leisure, then ponder what poses you want to do in the glass ledge. Don’t be annoyed with all the photographers at least there’s no pressure to view your pix when you exit.
This tower is different from the 360 experience which is the Hancock Tower. I was confused as to which is which or if they were the same attractionWritten 26 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our non-dinosaur loving kiddo enjoyed the other exhibits in the museum, as did we. But the highlight was our self-proclaimed "dino nerd" nine year old almost in tears when he finally got to see Sue the T-rex in person! He was beyond excited. The museum flow is really wonderful here, too. A lot of museums have you somewhat bottlenecked in exhibits, but not this one. I have fond memories of this museum from a school trip in Junior High and I'm glad that my kids also now have fond memories of this museum. With the addition of the spinosaurus, our's 9 year old's favorite dinosaur, we will now how to make another trip to this wonderful museum and we cannot wait!Written 15 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - William KimLondon, Canada99 contributionsAn awesome place to be at. Take the elevator up to the 94th floor and you will be greeted to great views of Downtown Chicago and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Go especially at night, the view is much prettier then.
My only complaint would be that it can get a bit boring here while you wait to go up to the top. I didn't think too much about this until I also went up the Sears Tower a few days later. The Sears Tower has gone under a complete makeover where there are many photo op stations and interactive exhibits featuring the history of Chicago. If the John Hancock Center did this as well, then my review would be 5 stars.
Otherwise this place is well worth the admission price to go up to the 94th floor, even though it is a bit pricey. You won't regret it.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laura l2 contributionsMy first time in the city and I loved it I had a great time walking around doing the Riverwalk going to the theater walking along Roosevelt and South Michigan going to Grant Park. I cannot wait to move to Chicago next month. Such a beautiful city in so much to do.Written 19 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hrobinson1114Nashville, TN2,766 contributionsThis is the site of the former Chicago Public Library. It’s more of an event center for the city of Chicago. There may be a Chicago themed exhibit here or there, or a festival or dinner (a Japanese festival was this weekend), but it isn’t really a museum.
I gave this site four stars mainly for the architecture. The cultural center has the largest Tiffany glass dome (third floor) as well as another pretty stained glass dome (second floor). There are also some impressive staircases, windows, ceilings.
Not a must see, but worth a stop. Would be easy to do, as it’s close to tourist attractions like Navy Pier and the American Writer’s Museum. Not terribly far from the Art Institute of Chicago either.Written 20 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Guided tour was worth the money! I would not have understood and appreciated the home and articles in the home beyond their beauty if not for the tour guide explaining the history behind the home and furnishings.
The black and white historical photos in each room depicting what it looked like in its day were so helpful bridging the gap between today and yester-years.
A treasure to step back in time to the gilded age.Written 1 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A lot of foot traffic on the weekend.Written 30 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
