Bottom line: The overall vibe and experience was awesome! I would certainly come back. I went with friends and we each had a lovely and more importantly, relaxing time.
PROS: Easy to make appt. Easy check-in process. Relaxing vibe. Adequate changing area. Many different temperature baths to choose from....my favorite was probably the bath located outdoors and the warm baths. You are given adequate time to roam and enjoy the facilities. There is a self serve station for salt/exfoliate scrub. They seem to have a effective system for crowd control. Staff is rather knowledgeable.

CONS: My massage wasn't that great. Unfortunately, I have to say this was probably the worst massage I have ever experienced. But the massage should not sway visitors as my friends had awesome massages. Pre-payment is required. First time I had ever experienced paying for a service before the service is received but I understand its their policy.

Tips: Bring your swim suit and a your fav toiletries. They do offer the basics (do not offer wash cloths). Be prepared to wear their swim shoes. The building is so unassuming and the front entrance is located in an alley.

Would give 10 out of 5 stars if I could: our experience was magnificent.

Booked a 60-minute couple's massage and was immediately greeted by Carmen, who offered glasses of champaign to start us off. She brought us to a private changing room where we changed into robes/sandals and locked our personal items.

Then we sat in a private room while the massage was prepared. A nice, relaxing moment before the massage began.

And the massage was incredible: both masseuses were skilled, knowledgeable, and bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable. I could have laid on that table for hours: it was beyond satisfying.

We opted for the paraffin wax hand treatment, which made our hands feel ultra-soft and moisturized - especially amazing during the cold winter months.

Will 100% return to this top-quality spa.

(P.S. Park behind the building by the train tracks: there are designated spots for customers of each business)

Loved the treatments and the major pampering by a well trained staff. The Diamond mani/pedi is unbeatable. Prices are sky high, but we wanted to have the lap of luxury feel on this particular day and we got it. Only negative, they charged us room service prices for some mixed nuts (no snacks available other than chocolate). That was kinda lame guys.

I'm not sure why I didn't come here sooner because it was such an amazing spa experience! I only got a 50 minute massage, and my therapist made the most of it (but I'll make sure to book a longer session next time!). Also, the bathrobes are the softest I've ever felt! The kicker was the extras too like we were able to order the in room dining menu to the spa, the service is unbeatable! I can't wait to schedule another, much longer service lol.

The new facility is definitely an improvement from the last. The new hot tub and pool are LOVELY. The massage itself was fine, very relaxing but I wouldn't say amazing, BUT the service overall was wonderful and the staff took such nice care of us for our friend's birthday. Michael specifically went above and beyond. We will be back!!

Had Tammy for a classic pedicure. She did a great job making me feel welcome. She was professional but friendly. Did an awesome job taking care of my feet. I went to her last year around this time and came back to her because I knew she’d take good care of me.

    TL;DR
*The facilities are awesome, the staff is very helpful, the massage was good too. Will be back and plan to bring my husband along as well!

    Facilites
*Pros: public areas are well appointed and expansive for a city hotel. Massive gym with peloton bikes. Large jacuzzi. Large lap pool. Dramatic water features in the communal spa waiting area provided soothing white noise. Light snacks and flavored water were a nice touch (there were yogurt pretzels and bananas chips with watermelon water when I was there). Women's locker room had great bones: separate dry sauna, wet steam rooms, rainfall showers, heated lounge chairs. I didn't get to use as I'm pregnant but I really enjoy the different types of heat humidity combinations.
*Cons: First is that the only hot drink available was caffeinated tea. It's freezing out. I wish they would have had a decaf option as I'm pregnant and avoiding caffeine.. being Asian inspired I was surprised they only had one tea option. This is a really easy fix. Second issue in my mind is also an easy fix. They don't have many toiletries in the women's locker room. No deodorant, hair spray, combs, hair ties, or really any extras. I did ask for a razor and one the nice attendants got me one. Also their skincare products are really lacking. The showers have body soap and shampoo/ conditioner and there is body lotion and mouthwash on the sink counter but no facial soap or face lotion.. something even gyms like Equinox supply. It's a must in the dry air of Chicago winters.

    Massage
*Pros: I had the prenatal 80 min massage. Good pressure and varied bed positions to accommodate a big baby belly.
*Cons: Timing was a bit truncated, but the front desk was very professional and provided a small discount so no real complaints. (Backstory is that they walked me back right at 5:45p, but spent several minutes discussing the benefits of a $45 Chinese medicine add-on.. that I didn't want.. at the end of the massage I didn't see a clock right away but 1) I got dressed, 2)waited for the massage therapist to bring a water, and then 3) walked back to the women's lockers and it was just 7:05pm when I was getting back to the lockers.)

The Waldorf Astoria Spa is housed in the sultry Gold Coast Chicago hotel of the same name. This 14000 sq. ft. spa facility offers a range of personalized massages, body regimes and beauty treatments.........with the emphasis on personal. The spa is graced with an assortment of treatment rooms; gender-separate locker rooms with jacuzzi's, sauna's and steam/hammam rooms. Enhancing this wellness space is a heated, inviting indoor pool, a state-of-the-art gym and a health club that offers Pilates, Kickboxing and more. I'm not a spa zealot but after my unruly flight, a massage was in order. After an audit of the spa menu, I opted for the Himalayan Salt Stone Massage. I don't know why the salt has to come from as far away as the Himalayans but it sure did the trick..... my aches subsided and I felt rejuvenated and pampered.

Wow!! I had an epicuren facial with Nicole! It was beyond excellent. She is truly a lovely person and a masterful aesthetician. She took the time to look carefully at my skin before recommending this treatment. It was so enjoyable, I had hoped it wouldn’t end. It’s just a short cab ride from downtown and you will have the best facial in your life. My skin looks amazing!!!!! I will be back the next time I’m in Chicago. Do yourself a favour and go to Allyu!!!

My daughter and I have done a girls' spa day here for the past several years. The massage therapists are first-rate. I have never had a deep tissue massage anywhere else that compares to here. Other reviewers' complaints are valid...the manicure area is very small, and they do not offer gel manicures, which seems odd (the technicians agreed). The relaxation area is indeed a passageway to treatment rooms, and can get a bit crowded and loud. I can't imagine finding a more warm, friendly and considerate staff, however. The pool and locker room are immaculately clean, and it is wonderful treat to sit out on the terrace above the bustle of Michigan Avenue.

Truly wonderful experience. Nervous as it was my first time but the owner is very calm and helpful, and put my mind at ease. The facility is very clean and comfortable! Can’t wait for my next float.

The cold-water plunge was very clean. The staff was very helpful and nice. I had made a mistake on my online booking, and they made the adjustment without any delay!

I frequently get massages at home. When I arrived in Chicago, I had a severe back ache and called this spa. When I explained the problem, they were able to get me in quickly and with a therapist who had more of a clinical approach. The therapist was able to improve my situation and I had more movement immediately. The spa is clean and comfortable. They have a small relaxation room, regular/steam showers, lockers and amenities. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and professional. Afterwards, stop at the French market for food- it is right across the street!

A warm retreat for a chilly night. Red Square Chicago Bath House provided a much-needed escape for our group. We spent time in the sauna (followed by cold showers right outside the sauna door), enjoyed spa scrubs, and ended the night with drinks and a delicious dinner. Our host, a Russian, frequents Red Square and led us through the paces of doing sauna/bath house properly. Red Square Chicago Bath House is clean, well run, and welcoming. If you are looking a unique, off-the-beaten-path place to unwind while in Chicago, head to the Wicker Park neighborhood and check out Red Square. Note that, though Red Square is fantastic and our group will definitely return, this is not your typical, Michigan Avenue fancy hotel-type spa. The website is a very accurate representation of the setting and services. Red Square is well run and provides quality services and amenities in a clean, cozy, and unique setting. Be sure to allow time to dine while at Red Square – the food was very good, consider ordering multiple dishes for all in your group to share and enjoy.
