Had a lovely evening on this walking food tour. Our guide, Jeff was amazing. We encountered a little longer wait time at one of the restaurants and he was very accommodating and the tour was quite fun. Food was delicious. We definitely hit the highs.

I am a seasoned traveler to over 100 countries, have experienced many guides, was even a guide myself, and without hesitation can say our Chicago guide today, Dash, was up there with the very best ... genuinely friendly, engaged with all of us, wildly enthusiasic, extremely knowledgeable. 100%+ recommendation.

More than what we expected. Food was delicious and the history was amazing! Haven't been to Chicago in over 20 years and this tour hit all the sweet spots and tummy cravings! Our tour guide/chaperone Alan or should I call him Al Chapone, was so knowledgeable and fun. Very personable and seemed to really care. Would recommend!!!! Thanks!

The food & service were excellent. While the views of the Chicago skyline were impressive, the outside decks were crowded & we weren’t able to get sitting.

Unique. Fun. Would do it again! We had some friends visiting from out of town and were looking for something out of the ordinary. With all the tours available, we settled on the Barrel Bus since it looked so different. While not all of us in our group were beer drinkers, those who weren’t still found drinks that surprised them and were able to participate. Ted, our guide, did a fantastic job keeping us all on a schedule, although we never felt rushed. He was a wealth of knowledge about the 3 breweries we visited as well as Chicago’s beverage history. Each brewery was different from the last and offered different styles of beers. We are not normally IPA drinkers, but most of those we tried we actually enjoyed! Food served at all of them but we settled on getting a huge pretzel (get the large cheese with it) at the 2nd location. We would absolutely do this again without reservation. Clean bus, spacious and comfortable, super fun!

Max was an extremely knowledgeable Chicagoan who was determined to share his love for the city. The food stops were delicious and we learned so much about different buildings and historical events in Chicago. Max was awesome!

The view of Chicago from the river was simply breathtaking! 5 stars. Music & ambience was excellent. 5 stars. Staff and crew were attentive. 5 stars. The food was decent. 3 1/2 stars (perhaps 4 stars if food was served warmer). Accommodations for disabled persons were acceptable - but inconvenient. The restrooms were located on a lower level. Staff members were helpful in assisting one of our disabled guests down approximately 10 stairs using a portable stair climber. Once down the stairs, the restroom was pretty and clean but NOT handicap accessible. No ADA height toilet or grab bars. 1/2 star. A grab bar should be a requirement for establishments to claim they are accessible to all guests! To discover the lack of a common restroom fixture, I am forced to lower my overall rating to 3.8 stars. This was a beautiful cruise and an event that all people should be able to experience. I hope management will follow up and install simple grab bars in restrooms of the vessel.

I'll start by saying that the food, drink, and restaurants themselves were awesome - delicious pizza, great staff, and a good experience visiting three classic Chicago establishments.

The tour itself, however, was chaotic and stressful.

The premise of the tour was a VIP experience, where you had a table reserved for you, pizza would come in 10 minutes, and you would have a brief time to enjoy a slice at each place before moving on - the itinerary made clear that you could not be late and must stick to the schedule. We had also signed up for the optional beer package and looked forward to trying local beer with our pizza.

In the first restaurant, no one seemed to have any idea we were coming. Several staff had no idea who we were or why we were there. We were told when we signed up that our food would come in 10 minutes and that we had to be on our way to the next step promptly, but it took 30 minutes for the restaurant to even figure out why we were there, so we were already running late.

Eventually, a manager came out and brought us a fresh pizza that he had apparently taken from another order (it was not the sausage pizza we were supposed to get). We appreciated his efforts. The staff was very apologetic and did everything they could to make it right - they were amazing. The pizza was out of this world. But, we were now way behind schedule and rushing to eat and make our next stop.

We arrived late to our next stop, and they, too, seemed confused by who we were and why we were there. Eventually, we were told that they had us in the system but that the meal hadn't been paid for (even though we had prepaid). They also told us that they had no record that we had also signed up for the beer package. In the end, we got our pizza 30 minutes later (not in 10 minutes as promised) and our beer. We rushed through our food again, now crazy behind the schedule. We were then presented with a bill for the whole affair. We told them we had prepaid, and they seemed confused but said OK. We then left to run to our next stop - not a lot of fun to rush when you are getting full of beer and pizza!

Our last stop, thankfully, was expecting us! They had our order written down already - but then presented us a bill, like the last place. We again informed them that we prepaid, and it became "a thing" until they finally figured things out and brought us our food - again, 30 minutes later, although the stress was gone since this was our last stop.

All in all - the food was amazing, the staff at each place was great, the experience of walking through River North and visiting classic historic restaurants was awesome, and we ultimately got what we paid for.

However, the disorganization made it all stressful - some places not knowing we were coming, food not being ready on time, running late the whole time and rushing the food and travel time, the constant confusion about everything - it took a lot of the fun out of the evening.

Having done it, I would now just choose one of the restaurants (Gino's East for us!) and enjoy a leisurely meal without the stress.

Exceeded my expectations! Jeff did an amazing job. Come Hungry! All of the restaurants on our stops were restaurants/chefs that had been recognized by publications. Jeff did a great job of creating a great mix of food and cultural history. Great pace and great food!

Perfect start to our Chicago trip. I had never been to Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed being on the water and seeing the skyline. The buffet was good, not great, although there certainly was plenty to choose from.

A nice evening of a buffet dinner, dancing and views. Plenty of food. Beautiful view though it would be nice to be told what views we were seeing.

Note: Because of all the rain, the water table was night and the boat ramp was very steep for boarding.
