    A Forest of Trees Weathered into Driftwood
    This is an interesting beach with the many remains of oak trees taken down by beach erosion. The trees have been down long enough to become weathered into a driftwood appearance. Kind of sad to see what were once majestic trees taken down. But, a poignant reminder of the force of nature.

    Great Rescue Center
    On our way home from Florida to Canada we stopped by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. The Center was nice but I wouldn’t try to make a quick stop there as it took a long time to get on to the island with many cars trying to get through three gates. Jekyll Island was nice though and I would consider spending a few days there.

    If on the Island, I think this is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours. There was a nice gift shop and educational display in the first building and then a bunch of turtles in large tanks in the second. I enjoyed the talk given by one of the workers and my kids enjoyed looking at all the different sized turtles and watching a baby turtle try to swim against the current in its tank.

    Very nice!
    The tram ride starting at the museum is a must. Get your tickets online as the tram was full and is for just about every time slot. They do a great job.

    Favorite activity of the island!
    Riding the bike trails is my favorite activity of the island. The trails are wide, flat and some meander through the tees along the sound. We always ride up to Tortuga Jacks for dinner and the Village Green area is easily accessible as well. Great way to experience the island!

    $8 dollar a day Jekyll Island parking fee
    We stayed in a condo rental for 6 nights. You are charged an$8 a day parking fee when you enter the island so be aware! There a many different restaurants to go to and beaches to check out which is very nice. Down side is there is only a gas station and a small pricey market in the shops area on the island. Also everything pretty much closes by 8 or 9 pm at the latest and often they shut down for the transition from breakfast to lunch so check the hours if you are really hungry

    Amy was fantastic and the food was great. The jumbo Shrimp and grits is worth it! Also met the chef on our 36 wedding anniversary. To God be the Glory!!!

    Birthday fun
    As a surprise 9th birthday gift, I took my son to Summer Waves. It is small, but well worth the visit. As opposed to the water parks closer to my area is SW Georgia, this park was VERY affordable. Although it seemed to be crowded, the lines moved fast and efficient. We arrived before opening and there was already a line, so pre buy tickets online (plus they are a little less experience). Seriously, it was only $18 a person, you can't expect a more affordable day of fun in the sun. I would visit again, no doubts about it. Only down side, a large locker rental was almost $20 for the day. As expected, the food was pricey, but the subs were good. I wasn't impressed with the salad, but it could have been worse. One of the rides was down (guessing for maintenance) but it did not take away from the fun experience.

    Walk the Wanderer Memory Trail!
    This is not just a nice beach with a big picnic area and public restrooms. Take time to walk the Wanderer Memory Trail to learn about local history, the story of an illegal slave ship. Signs and outdoor stations tell the story of the Wanderer and its cargo of slaves. The narrative focuses on Umwalla, a young boy brought on the ship.

    Worth the quick visit
    Yes it is just a shell but read the different markers to get the history, walk across the street to the cemetary, and imagine what it must have been like back in the 1800s with such a beautiful view of the water. The only real problem we ran into was mosquitoes/sand fleas. Oh the buzzing in the ear!!!!

    Beautiful Park
    Walked around this park. So beautiful and has nice boardwalks to the water.
    Great trails for a nice morning walk and to search for the orbs
    Parking is abundant and their are restrooms and picnic areas

    Explosive Independence Day
    This year marked the 75th Anniversary of Jekyll Island.
    The Fireworks was indeed worth the trip and Parking Fee to enter the Island

    A beautiful and unexpected little gem in the middle of Jekyll....
    absolutely gorgeous chapel w/ incredible stained glass windows (we spent over an hour just talking about the windows) one of which is a Tiffany and spectacular woodwork through out. Spend some time just wandering through the place.

    Fun spot for a short nature walk
    We stopped here for a walk through the forest, which was beautiful and filled with songbirds. After finishing the short loop, we stayed for some quiet observation of the pond, where we saw a kingfisher, turtles, and a baby alligator.

    Lots happening here
    Stopped in here to get some information before visiting the island. Had a very nice gift shop and clean restrooms. The lady working there told us all about the orbs hidden on the island. They had replicas of the ones you could receive if you find the orb. Around the back is an observation tower with a great view over the marsh. Mr Kingfisher sat close by and gave us a show m

    PIER!
    Really big fishing pier. Provides great views- nice picnic area and the nearby beach is really nice. Kinda buggy, watch out for the horses crossing the road. . Does have a bait shop along with restrooms at the area.
