We did the 2 hour tour (not listed above) with Captain Chris. Before we left he offered us water (free and a nice touch compared to the parks) which we all took because it was in the high 80's. Capt Chris is a true master at knowing the marsh. He knew where all the good hangouts for the gators were, of which we saw several. His knowledge of all the different species as well as the gators in the marsh was impressive. The gators were amazing to see. Being that I live in Wisconsin, I didn't know what to expect from them, but was comforted because Capt Chris explained what to expect. The closest we got to one of the was about 7-10 ft. All the gators we saw were sunning themselves and barely moved. Although the thought crossed my mind that they could lung for us, I was never worried. The biggest one we saw was 15-18 feet.
The flat bottomed fan boat was comfortable and navigated the marsh easily. We weren't worried about falling in at any time. The location is easy to get to (although a 1/2 hour ride out of Kissimmee, the other staff that we interacted with were friendly and welcoming, parking was abundant and the grounds were clean..
Being that I have wanted to do this since I was a teenager, I had a great time and would say that it has been a highlight for our trip. Doing it through Marsh Landings was excellent, especially with Capt Chris, and I would be happy to go for another ride with them again.
