Our first ever Safari Trip. Stayed 3 nights at Kwara Camp. Excellent facilities and welcoming staff. The game drives were superb and we saw incredible wildlife in the most beautiful and unspoilt landscape. Highly recommended

Obviously, the Okavango River is responsible for creating the Okavango Delta. But the river itself is worthy of special attention because of all of the animals it draws during the dry season. We were there in late May, at the end of the dry season before the rains came and surprising, the river really the only place where one sees water...the delta is completely dry (especially this past year). So regardless of season, the Okavango River does not disappoint with all of the animals that it draws as well as its own natural beauty.

Moremi is unique. Nowhere else can you experience nature in its purest state. Not for the inexperienced. You need to plan every minute detail. There are no shops, no fuel, no mobile signal, no roads to speak of. A 4 x 4 vehicle is absolutely essential. Navigation can only be done using coordinates. A good satnav is vital. Wild animals WILL intrude in your campsite, including elephants, lions, hippos and hyenas. Be careful. The first night that I was in camp, a camper in another site was bitten by a hyena. Most of the campsites are remote from one another, secluded and private. Ablution blocks are good and clean. Hot water from solar power is available. The camp staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful Talk to them, they can give you much needed advice. After dark, it is dangerous to walk to the ablutions, if you have to go, drive there. all food and drinking water must be brought with you. Once in the Moremi, there are absolutely no supplies. Expect to average 6 to 10 mph when you travel. The so called roads are dreadful. It is rough and tough out there, but it is absolutely phenomenal, not to be missed. There are several companies offering fully equipped 4 x 4 vehicles for hire. Most of them are equipped with long-range fuel tanks, fresh water tanks, and fridge/freezers as well as being equipped with tents, bedding, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. There will always be extra equipment that you need to buy, including plastic containers for dry goods, butter, milk and other items. Glass bottles tend to get smashed on the rough roads and dry goods packets tend to burst, leaving a huge mess. PREPARATION is essential, think everything through carefully. Make sure that you have everything that you need for the duration of your stay, you won't get a second chance. Make sure that you have a very powerful torch, to survey the area around your camp at night. If there is anything there, you will see their eyes and you can retreat to safety. Make sure that you have enough batteries. IT IS THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME, don't miss it. You will need to book a year in advance.
