Really cool to see the geyser erupt! Strokkur erupted every 4-6 minutes when we were there. The parking lot and gift shop were very crowded, which is to be expected for August. I went with my grandfather, who has some mobility challenges. We were able to walk slowly and make it to see the geyser. It may be hard to access in a wheelchair.

This is a very impressive crater and quite larger than it seems. You can walk around the rim and even take some steps to the bottom. It's a nice short stop on the golden circle.

Often hidden by clouds this volcano has done recent damage. Icelanders seem to take the danger of volcanic eruptions as just part of life. The beautiful farms and fields in the meadows below this mountain are serene and peaceful, yet could become an Icelandic Pompeii at any time. However, the scenery is amazing. There is a very good interpretive display along the road at a hotel/restaurant which gives a clear picture of just how large this last eruption was.

Undaunted (well, maybe a little bit daunted) by the website stating they're currently closed other than to groups of 15+, I emailed the brewery and was told I could drop by and knock on the door and we could do a tasting if anyone was available. This ended up being a highlight of the trip as there was no one there between me and my companion, and we tasted all the beers in which we were interested, got a tour of the brew room, and even tasted a new beer right from the fermentation tank. They loaded us up with swag and more beer than we could actually carry, which we ended up sharing that evening with our nearby B&B owners. I can't say you'll have the same experience we did, but the people are friendly and there's a wide range of quality beers (even for a US beer snob). A bit out of the way, but definitely worth a visit if you're in the Selfoss area.

So great. Not really horse riders but five of us did hour tour. The two guides, Lucy and sorry I can’t recall she second guide’s name though she was from Germany, were terrific. Really personable and very comforting for skittish guests. Horses are fun and less intimidating the American horses. Would highly recommend.

So I got the privilege to join Skuli and his amazing adventures for the second time with my dad and brother. And this time just so happened to be his South Africa tour. Skuli joined forces with 2 locals named Gareth and Brittany. And man did they put on one amazing trip. Between their knowledge, hospitality, kindness, and really down to earth amazing people, they helped make this trip what it was. But the scenery, the people, the atmosphere. All nothing short of amazing. We got really lucky with the weather. The dirtbikes are amazing and well maintained, the scenic days were majestic, but the single track was what made this trip a blast. The challenge behind some of it was the exciting part. We had a rainy day that was questionable to ride in, but 4 of us did a quick ride and it turned out to be one of the best days. Soaking wet, riding in and out of the creek, single track. The adrenaline was flowing that day. But overall, the trip was absolutely amazing and breathtaking. Both in the scenery and the riding. It doesn't matter if it South Africa or Iceland. Skuli has his tours figured out and he's doing it right. So if you've been riding with him in Iceland, I would highly suggest booking a tour with him in South Africa. You will not be disappointed at all.

An excellent day trip, our guide “Kevin” (because his real name was too hard to pronounce) was attentive, funny and made our trip even more enjoyable. We started with the glacier as the weather was due to turn, and he wanted us to see it without getting soaked. It was stunning, well worth the walk, although I would suggest if you have remotely slippery shoes, buy some grips. At times it was a bit of a struggle to find a non-slippery part of the path to walk on. Don’t let that put you off though...it was beeeeaauuutiful! Then on to black beach in Vik, followed by the two waterfalls (one of which featured in Game of Thrones) Walkways to the waterfalls was again quite slippery, sheet ice in places, but I genuinely didn’t see anybody fall, so as long as you take care, and have good grip on your shoes, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Kevin, brought samples of Icelandic food and drink for us all, and then dropped us off back in Reykjavik as near to our Airbnb as he could. I would highly recommend this trip, it was 10 hours with an 8am pick up, and worth every penny.

West Iceland was voted one of Lonely Planet’s best destinations. The Grabrok volcano crater with lunar like lava marks is a spectacular sight. One has to be fit to scale the 1.5 km hike up with most gradients at 45 degrees. Fortunately, the stair pathway was very well constructed. Thank God, we made it!👏
