I led a school group of 18 teenagers to visit Skyrland at the end of March, 2023. We had managed to book the trip under the exhibit’s old management, I think, and had no idea it was closed for renovations when we arrived. Even though they didn’t even know about our trip, they were so nice to us that they opened the exhibit specially for us the next day. Even though it wasn’t a situation she created, the new manager was so kind and helpful to us. Top notch hospitality! Next time I lead this school trip, we’re definitely coming back.

The exhibit itself is very modern and a multi sensory experience that’s great for kids. Younger kids would definitely enjoy this, but even older teens had a lot of fun. There are sights, sounds and smells, cool video displays, etc. The exhibit is well laid out and compact. Older teens may only need 25 or 30 min, but younger kids would take a longer time. Afterwards, there is a skyr bar with bowls and smoothies, and upstairs in the renovated factory is a nice selection of restaurants.

A chess nut on our Golden Circle tour got the guide to take us to the Bobby Fischer Center on the way. The lady who runs it opened it especially for us since the group of 18-20 may have been the largest group ever to visit. If you like odd little museums, it is right up your alley, providing insights into the Cold War, the wackiness of high-level chess players and the beginnings of Iceland's rise to prominence as a tourist attraction. For most people in the group, it was an excessively long rest-room stop, but as a fan of museums that no one else would go to, I found it to be an interesting hour.

Cool gallery with some really funky jewelry and brass items. Love the signature on the paper bags and really nice touch. Quality work and I felt reasonably priced. Worth a stop in if in the Selfoss area.
