We visited as part of a larger tour and enjoyed seeing the geyser that erupted every 20 minutes like clockwork, the geothermal pools of varying sizes of past and present (many of them are now empty), and being treated to boiled eggs and hverabraud cooked using geothermal power. A nice visit.

Good place to warm up after walking for hours in the cold. Geothermal sauna was a fun experience. And the hot tub was nice.

Very small interesting place. The earthquake exhibition centre is from an eruption in 2008 where you can straddle America and Europe. No fee to go in and read the exhibits and watch the video. There is a small craft shop, a bakery/bar and supermarket. There is a small fee to go inside the "quake house" There are free to use toilets here too. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

We were limited in our choice of activity this day due to heavy rain. We ended up visiting this place. It was small and didn't take so much time, but it was interesting.

Our main reason for visiting was to experience the simulation of the 2008 earthquake. You can learn more about the impact of the earthquake on the community as well. The simulation definitely provides visitors with the realtime feeling of what was experienced and also information regarding the impact of the quake on the community. The cost is 300kr per person. In addition, there is a wealth of information regarding tours, a post office to mail cards, and a cafe to purchase pastries. It is definitely a nice stop for people as they make their way through the country.

What a fun experience! Our guide welcomed us promptly, reviewed instructions and matched us up perfectly based on our riding experience. She was kind and engaging throughout the ride. The paddock and pasture are in great shape and the horses are well cared for. They are gentle, full of personality and trained well. It was one of the best rides we’ve been on and hope to come back!

An amazing Super Jeep tour of the Hengill and area surrounding it, with Andrés as our driver and guide. Andrés is a native of the area and is very knowledgeable about basically everything from volcanoes to sheep. The landscape is brutal but has it's own beauty and the trip very exciting with so many wonderful features. The hot spring cooking was delightful and definitely the best meal of our whole trip. We gained so much knowledge from Andrés about hot springs, volcanoes and glaciers on Iceland and were extremely grateful for it for the rest of our trip.
