Impressing to see how the prison was and was managed during it’s existence. Wonderful stories of prisoners and very nice to see this historical site

This was truly a fun and unique experience. The drive there was on a long and lonely dirt road but fun. A few times you'll wonder if you're lost but have no fears. You'll make it there. We spent some time wandering around the old town before we hopped on "bus" and went to the mine. From there we jumped on a bright yellow "cart" and headed straight down into the mine. Allen was great and very informative and we enjoyed hanging around after the tour with him and some other guests just talking. The price for the town and mine is $75/person and worth every penny. Plan on spending a few hours here between the drive in and out as well as the tour. Bring a ton of water!!!!!

We stayed overnight at the IHG property on base but in the morning the Heritage Center had not yet opened when we had to hit the road.
Outside around the grounds of the Heritage Center are a few pieces on static display. One is a Cessna O-2 Skymaster and the other is the Control Car for a Land-Train.
We did, however, drive down to the Wahner E Brooks Historical Exhibit located at the Visitor Center and walk around and among the static displays located at that area. There is also a memorial plaque describing Camp Laguna Desert Training Center and its role in WWII.
Fascinating look at all types of armor from WWII up to and including the Cold War.

One of the novelties of traveling through the southwestern desert is the number of date farms, many of which offer date shakes. When we saw that there were a few in the Yuma area, we decided to give one a try, and we settled on Martha's Gardens. It was a little out of the way, and as it was off-season their deli was closed. That was fine, as we came for the date shakes and THOSE were still for sale. They were easily the best date shakes that I've ever had: well-blended and sweet but still with that unique date flavor. It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth the stop on a hot summer car ride.

The history of Yuma was fascinating. I would recommend the guided tour.... costs the same as the self tour and the guide has a lot more history to tell you. It was great. Best money we have spent in a long time.
Did the guided tour and then went back and could go over it again and read all the posted information and view all the photos and stopped to watch the videos that played throughout.
Then we stopped for lunch at the Italian restaurant on the grounds and it was perfect and delicious to have a panini and salad. The staff in the restaurant were lovely.

We traveled to Yuma in an RV and found this park to be a good spot to stop and plan our sightseeing adventure. We had no problems with any of the people in the park, even meeting some fellow RV's who were doing the same as us. The prison is right across the road (altho I recommend driving there) Nice view of the "Ocean to Ocean bridge. A nice shady spot to park while walking through down town (Don't miss the story about the plane & car in city hall!) also pivot point is just a short walk away. Again, we found this a nice place to stop and plan that (and the next day's adventure)

This market is outdoor but covered. It is actually located in a storage yard with covered carports. A variety of items are for sale here and it is fun to look around. They also have a food area with food truck type food and live entertainment. Fun to explore. Oh if you want a carved wooden sign for your RV, there is a booth here that sells them and they do GREAT work!

...was nice tonight. It's really a beautiful setting here... Informative as well with all kinds of information panels on this area's rich history with the river and Native Americans who are still here. It was actually an offset sunset, and I went down where the bridge is near the wetlands area. It's great but I should be with somebody like everybody else. I can feel it so near me, but I just can't quite taste it

We parked in Gateway Park then walked to the pivot point. after seeing that we followed the street signs not locating this place. Finally, I inquired in the chamber of commerce where there was some confusion BUT, finally I was directed downtown where I found the back door with a NICE outdoor patio area downtown about a block from city hall. I found a very nice and informative and VERY busy visitor's center. The lady there was very helpful and professional

The blooms in early April were phenomenal. The Palo Verde trees were in full yellow bloom with bottle bushes, wildflowers and blooming cactus. In addition to the pleasant pond, this park had a nice shaded walking area along the river you could launch a kayak or wade in the water. The park is very clean and orderly. A part of the part this year in Early April along the river was closed due to a fire hazard.

First of all, if you want to see Cibola at its best, go in the winter months. We went in December and saw tons of various birds. Our favorites were the burrowing owls. We got lucky and caught one of the little guys out in the afternoon. If you love wildlife, visit this place!

It is a continuation from the West Wetlands with the same views. It had some shady areas and view points you can view across. The only difference from the West Park is it has NO garden areas but still is an excellent place to hike in the morning before the heat of the day.

Three couples went for mini-golf one afternoon. The place is huge! Lots of this to do. Grab a beverage and snacks too.

    We shall return.
