Engaging location for live musical performances. The structure both externally and internally interesting to view. The musical hall was comfortable, maybe a little outdated, but adequate. The curvaceous lines of the exterior were carried well within the interior design even into the the concert hall. The staff did not speak English, but were helpful and polite. The program was only in Chinese, but we translated via an APP. The seats were sufficient. Restrooms decent. Easily accessible location by Metro Line 2 or by car. The location is beautiful but does not lend itself to an after concert drink or dinner, one must travel some. We purchased tickets on-line and they were delivered promptly, as promised. Our evening was very enjoyable.

I was there for a flamenco dance show, performed by the National Ballet of Spain. Amazing performance, unearthly architecture. It’s a very new venue, opened in Oct 2016.
Definitely a must see by architecture and art lovers.

Apparently, hittin' up new jazz joints is a thing I now do whenever I visit Shanghai, as I have now gone to two in the past two weeks.

Jazz at Lincoln Center, Shanghai, did not disappoint, the class and elegance you would expect from a Jazz Club. Perfect timing allowed me to buy a ticket (which included a drink) and find myself what turned out to be a great seat. I got there early because that's how Virgos do, but suite yourself.

I saw a one-night engagement of Elsa & The Fungs, who played for about two hours, including a short intermission. They were tight and on point, as was the venue, a perfect match, if only for a night.

I'd defiantly come back, but that might be against the rules, as I will try not to repeat, but based on my experience tonight, I will certainly keep an eye on their calendar of shows...

You won't miss this unique architecture in the city when you pass by. Great venue for any concert!

Hop-on Hop-off bus does stop at this location.

I made the trip out to Jiading on a Sunday afternoon to check out the Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre (SHPGT), which is located between two man-made waterways in Jiading district, 12 miles northwest of Shanghai's center.

It is a delightful place - good enough to fill 1-2 hours, if you stroll through the cavernous complex and it's surroundings.

Designed by reknowned Japanese architect, Tadao Ando, the theatre features a minimalist look, encased with glass and aluminium. There are five large openings carved through the building, creating a series of public spaces that are exposed to the open air, but sheltered from rain. True to Ando's style, SHPGT is characterised by the use of raw concrete, dramatic play of natural light, and forms that follow the landscape.

There is a large man-made waterway just beside the theater, with several pathways & bridges, for people to take a leisurely stroll along... Away from the crowds in downtown Shanghai.

This place is not a typical Shanghai attraction but a haven for architecture and photography buffs.
