I got VIP service: personal attention from the guide, a car with a driver, and the ability to tweak the tour towards things I was interested in. Berlin arranged all of the admission fees, as well as lunch in one of the more authentic Shanghainese restaurants. She even bought me Godiva ice cream! The boat ride was beautiful, we toured a family garden and learned all of the history from Annie, and then we ended our trip by walking through the old streets and shopping! I would recommend this trip over and over again! We actually considered coming back for a second tour of this awesome village! She is excellent in English fluency. She gave a lot of information about her country and their culture. She explained each and everything very clearly and patiently. She is having a wide knowledge about the world too. She was very friendly and took care of us well. She is a kind hearted and very flexible woman .We loved her photography skills and she helped us click some amazing pictures. Overall, we are very much satisfied and enjoyed being with her. - Suzy Q2 contributionsWe had such a fantastic day with Jerry in the two water towns! The views were absolutely amazing - as was the boat ride in both locations - one by day under the beautiful willow trees and the other by night with views of the lit water and red lanterns - what an experience!
Jerry took us to all the best spots, including a wonderful local restaurant for lunch and a great lit waterside restaurant at night. We sampled local culinary treats along the way - also some rice wine (very strong! Haha) - and of course shopping! Jerry even carried my shopping bags so I could be free to go in and out of the shops. He was so knowledgeable about the area and the history - wonderful guide!
When we first booked the trip we were worried it was going to be too long of a day, but it wasn’t - it was absolutely perfect! Jerry also let us go at our own pace, which was great!

Ryan knows the place all over, has lots of experience in guiding tours all over the world, but especially in his hometown Shanghai. The Water Town looked very pretty, we took many beautiful photos there. The architecture and street stalls were very interesting too. Tom was very knowledgeable and was giving us a lot of background information of the Water Town which made our visit much more enjoyable. Our car ride was super comfortable too. We did a lot in the three hours, and I really enjoyed myself on a lovely sunny day. She was very friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable. I am a wheelchair user and Lisa made sure that everything was accessible for me. The Bund, the Old Town and People's Park were my favourite. - momcat1959Asbury Park, NJ1,309 contributionsWe had a wonderful tour of Zhujiajiao Water Village and Shanghai. We were a group of 6 staying pre-cruise at the Marriott City Centre. Mary was our guide and was extremely sweet and pleasant. She was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of useful information.
We first visited the water village. It was about an hour outside of town but the ride was most comfortable and Mary was very entertaining along the way. We had a comfortable van and so traveling was quite pleasant. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we strolled along the canal. It was fun to see all the stands with food and trinkets. The area is so clean and colorful! We also visited a beautiful home with a gorgeous garden where we took lots of pictures. After that we took a boat ride on the canal which was so enjoyable.
After the water town we went back to Shanghai. We went first to the French Concession area where we had a delicious lunch of dumplings and fried rice and vegetables. Mary ordered for us and everything was wonderful. Then we went to Old Shanghai which was fascinating with beautiful old buildings. We are so amazed at the beautiful architecture of China. From there we went to the Bund which was a great contrast to Old Shanghai. We saw and did so much in one day.
This was a wonderful tour. We all had an outstanding time. We were even sent very thoughtful thank you gifts the next day.
