- Martian_MikeShanghai, China12 contributionsjust noticed to everybody, the museum has been built 25 years, and now it is making over. But still a good place to take shot and Nanjing road is not far away from it. Walk on the Nanjing road to East direction, you could be to Shanghai BUND.Written 4 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robin J1 contributionSmall museum tucked away inside building without much obvious signage to help. However, once found it, lots of exhibits categorised into eras/subject. Interesting for a look through for most people, I feel for those highly interested in the subject there's lots to dig through.

Wish I had been sooner and had taken visitors. The model of Shanghai is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. Great rainy day, or bad air day activity.Written 9 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jokejongSingapore, Singapore30 contributionsVery pleasant. Newly renovated. Not suitable for young kids, lack of interactivity and designed for teenagers and above who enjoys history. Conveniently located near an mtr station. The narrative was simple to follow and clear. Language in English was excellent. Overall pleased with the experience. I spent about 1.5hr inside.Written 29 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jonathan TSingapore, Singapore19 contributionsI honesty did not know anything about world expos, let alone the Shanghai World Expo. The museum however was very aesthetic and I had a pleasant time learning about the history of world expos, how the expo areas were constructed and designed as well as the significance of the event. About 1/3 of the museum is dedicated to Shanghai World Expo. However it is pretty easy to cover most of the museum in an hour or two. I would recommend dropping by the newly opened Table Tennis Museum that is a stone's throw away and can be covered under an hour. PLUS both museum visits are FREE!Written 4 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MartinSinclairManchester, England, United Kingdom6 contributionsSmall museum under the Maglev station at Longyang Lu. Free to enter and interesting displays on Maglev history and construction.Written 3 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - autumnjune729Singapore, Singapore178 contributionsExterior of building is an iconic photo spot. Entry to museum is free, exhibits inside not very impressive but the gem of the museum is the 3D motion art of the famous Chinese painting 清明上河图。 Enjoyed this part tremendously but the rest of the museum is quite passable.Written 9 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris PShanghai, China4,925 contributionsWhat an amazing few hours I spent at this Museum. It is beautifully designed and the displays are very nicely spaced out and presented. Nearly all the cars are labelled in Chinese and English, with enough information about the display.
Don’t forget to get an audio guide, which requires a deposit. They never told me about it, so you need to ask. The numbered displays have a 1 to 2 minute commentary about them. Well worth it. Note that you need 4 digits for the machine, so add enough zero’s in the front, to complete the number. It took me a while to work it out.
The staff are most helpful and have a fair bit of English.
I also loved all the interactive opportunities on the top floor. You definitely need a 2/3 hours to do the place justice.
There is a MacDonalds near the museum and a tiny restaurant inside.
The only issue - it’s far from the centre of town. If using the Metro, take line 11 and get off at Anting station. It’s a fair walk from there, or just take a Didi. Note that Anting New Town is very close by and is a German styled area - worth a look if you are there.Written 2 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nicely made characters.
If you have a lot of customers, it can take time to tour the exhibition.Written 18 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MissArnScottBluPerth, Australia91 contributionsIf you happen to be in the area, it's not a bad idea to stop by this little museum. Packed full of information, it will give you a very solid (but obviously biased) account of the birth of the Chinese Communist Party. All information is in Chinese and English.Written 11 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chris PShanghai, China4,925 contributionsThe Glass Museum is far out and a bit out of the way, so it takes an effort to get there. It’s a long walk from the Nearest Metro. The displays are awesome, although I left feeling that somehow there should have been more - especially older items, seeing that it is a museum. What was on display, was excellent. It’s covers quite a large area , so you need an hour or two to see everything. Some of the descriptions on the glass panels/cases are really difficult to read, with dark backgrounds, although I was pleasantly surprised to see so much written in English.
I may need to go back on a week end, when hopefully there will be some artisans at work and workshops open. It all looks very interesting. Note that it’s half price, Tuesday to Friday.Written 27 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Starbucks here is truly quaint as it is every inch, French. The paths are nice and the ambience reminds us of the cultural strands that shaped Shanghai to what it is today.
Snap a selfie in its lush gardens. Take delight in the vines that smolder the walls of some structures. The trees along the roads also make this charming community a haven for nature-lovers.
The restaurants, though, are above mid in terms of pricing. Dishes and drinks are way too expensive so, have a full meal before heading there.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
