- yazid yKuala Lumpur, Malaysia292 contributionsTop of the Pyrimids Exhibition:-
This is a special exhibition of a few hundred selected pieces from the time of the pharaohs, brought from the Cairo Museum on a government to government initiative. You need to book your ticket and timeslot online. Exhibits were very well presented, although the written descriptions of the exhibits in english were too brief. You can rent a audio machine to have a better explanation on the exhibits. Go on a weekday if possible as the weekend crowd can be overwhelming, although the visitors allowed in are controlled by the number of tickets sold. For non China citizens, you require your passport to enter the museum. Your online booking is linked to your passport details. Make sure you fill in your passport details correctly when doing your online booking, became if the information does not tally, you will not be allowed into the museum. Its worth the 2 to 3 hour time to visit this exhibition.Written 2 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Once you get to the building, go in and turn left into the 726 area (there's a huge 726 on the wall). Take a lift to the 7th floor and follow the signs round to the left). It's a difficult topic for the authorities so expect to see bemused westerners wandering round wondering how to get to the venue. There's a shop too so don't worry about the photography ban, just accept you might have to spend a bit more than the 25rmb entry.Written 12 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Monticha TOxford, OH9 contributionsThis place always amazes me. Shanghai is so big and impossible to comprehend how big the city is until you see the models on the whole floor.Written 12 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim1,514 contributionsShanghai Natural History Museum is a 5 stories museum focused on natural history. The entrance fee is RMB 30. The entrance includes one of 2 showings (big bang, Jurassic) that you can choose to reserve and view. To see the two showings, you need to install the wechat app, install the associate mini-program and make reservations. The showing is in a dome theater, in which the seat will move during the movie for the effect. The visual quality of the showing is poor though.
The Shanghai Natural History Museum has quite some exhibits. Some of the highlights are: a big collection of fossils (including many dinosaur fossils, even moved some huge chunk of stone fossils from remote sites to the museum), a large gemstone collection.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are lots of exhibits you can walk in for free and see artists at work. The area also has many cafes and a few restaurants but none were overly appealing.Written 3 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eu Hyung KSeoul, South Korea10 contributionsIt was humongous. If you have slightest interest in science this museum will increase your interest in science. I was fascinated by the space science. English description was given and it almost took 4 hours to fully see the whole museum. The museum was worth every single minute. If you're interested in science i highly recommend it. It'll be worth your time.Written 5 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Jonathan TSingapore, Singapore19 contributionsI honesty did not know anything about world expos, let alone the Shanghai World Expo. The museum however was very aesthetic and I had a pleasant time learning about the history of world expos, how the expo areas were constructed and designed as well as the significance of the event. About 1/3 of the museum is dedicated to Shanghai World Expo. However it is pretty easy to cover most of the museum in an hour or two. I would recommend dropping by the newly opened Table Tennis Museum that is a stone's throw away and can be covered under an hour. PLUS both museum visits are FREE!Written 4 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Emilee RipponPerth, Australia11 contributionsSome very cool cars here! My partner was happy with the diversity of cars; we visited the Beijing Auto Museum in October and thought there was more diversity in cars at Shanghai but less in numbers / exhibits. Equally as interesting to visit though! The museum is part of some kind of transport district so it was cool to see some autonomous vehicle testing and other interesting EV information too. It was about a 50-minute drive out of where we were staying near the Yu Garden but if you have the time, it's a cool museum!Written 30 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ellen L3 contributionsA wonderful little museum, it was a beautiful blend of good curation in a very pleasantly designed space. Each floor was a separate little exhibition focused on figurines, jade, blue and white porcelain, and Buddhist figures respectively. The artefacts were well selected and nicely presented, and the accompanying text information was informative without being too long. You could probably have gone through the whole thing in an hour if you wanted, but we took our time and managed to spend a good 4 hours in there.
The staff were all very polite and friendly too. The cafe on the 5th floor had a beautiful view and good coffee (though we had hoped for a bite of lunch they only had cake and smoothies). The place was also not particularly crowded despite it being Golden Week which was a pleasant surprise.
Overall, it definitely felt like a bit of a hidden gem as the other reviews have described it.Written 5 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
