- ClementineBoston, MA182 contributionsIt's an iconic landmark in Shanghai. I take the elevator straight up to the 263-meter observation deck. I can get a stunning panoramic view of the entire city. I had dinner at the Oriental Pearl Sky Revolving Restaurant – it’s a lovely place.I can enjoy delicious food while soaking in the amazing views😚😚
Tips ✨: Purchase your tickets online in advance to avoid queuing on site. In fact , admission is FOC if you plan to just walk , eat and chill there , can avoid buying tickets . Fruit juice and dumplings is nice . - geo3Calgary, Canada2,154 contributionsThis is a great pedestrian street to explore, with some attractive architecture, some of it more than 100 years old and some of it very modern. If you get off the subway at the Nanjing Rd. East subway station, it's also the most interesting way of ending up at the Bund and the Huangpu River. At night this street is lit up beautifully.
If shopping is your thing, this is a good place to shop during the day.
The 'slightly sleazy' wording in the title is because, as I walked down the street in the evening, I was approached three separate times by attractive young women who 'wanted to practice their English'. If you are with a group or a family, as I was on a previous visit here in 2019, this won't happen to you, and it's a very safe street otherwise.

- Gaby C77 contributionsWe came here to look around and shop and stayed to lunch. The area is an interesting stroll and there are indoor air conditioned shops if high end shopping is your thing. It is located in the old French concession area. The area has mainly retained the "authentic and original" feeling because it has not been reconstructed or rebuilt. Instead visitors will get to see buildings, shophouses, alleys and streets of the old French concession area with Chinese "culture".
It has now become famous as a "rabbit warren" of arts and crafts shops, with restaurants, bars, cafes, souvenir and boutique shops etc. It has become touristy but still a good place to have a feel of the local touch.

We browsed through stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to exotic spices, our senses delighting in the colors and fragrances that surrounded us. We sampled local street food, each bite a new adventure, a taste of Shanghai's rich culinary heritage.
One of the highlights of our exploration was the Old Town of Nanshi. Walking through the preserved Shikumen houses, we felt as though we had stepped back in time. Although we were only here for a couple of hours, it was no where near enough time to get through all the shops and food stalls and sights. August is a very busy time and there were many many people everywhere. The architecture was wonderful, and so much to see. Definitely worth the visit. Heping Hotel has been my favorite hotel in China since 2018. I met Zoey, their talented and excellent front desk operator who helped me a lot during my stay. China is changing rapidly since last I was there. Zoey was kind and informative. She made my visit in China much more easier. The room she gave me have impeccable street view. Entry is a donation of 50 Yuan, which feels reasonable for the experience. The temple's location, nestled in the middle of a bustling and extremely expensive shopping district, adds to its charm and makes for a fascinating contrast.
The temple itself is beautiful, with intricate architecture and serene vibes. It features two small shops located on either side of the main square, and its multi-story layout allows visitors to explore walkways that encircle the complex. Despite its compact size, the temple offers a tranquil break from the city's busy streets.
It's a quick visit, but given its cultural and architectural significance, it's worth stopping by if you're in the area.
