Great tour of Shanghai with my own personal car and tour guide. Berlin, my guide was great and had a lot of knowledge about the history of each place, the symbols in all the art, and knowledge of Chinese culture. A day before my trip began, Alana, the tour coordinator asked if there was anything specific I wanted to see. I asked a colleague to name some places and Berlin designed the second half of the tour around my agenda. I will say you should allow 60 to 90 minutes to travel to and from the water town if you are staying in downtown Shanghai.

My daughter and I had a wonderful day exploring Zhujiajiao with Berlin. Dealing with the sass, eye rolls, and general teenage angst that comes with giving a history lesson to a 13-year-old and her mother is not always easy but Berlin was an expert and kept my daughter engaged and never even showed any annoyance.

Zhujiajiao is such a beautiful ancient town and a really nice complement to the modern city that is Shanghai. It’s very much worth a visit and I’d recommend Berlin specifically to anyone with kids.

What a great way to not only try new foods that I wouldn’t have necessarily found on my own - but also orient myself around Shanghai on my first full day here. Our guide Patrick was super personable, flexible and friendly. He was a wonderful host. The 2 other solo travelers I met on the tour were lovely and it was such a nice way to spend the afternoon. Definitely good value for money and highly recommended all around! Im very happy and very full :)

Decent tour with stops at important landmarks. Our guide Michael was awesome, adding stories where appropriate. Good way to get some introduction behind the history of the city. Stop At Silk factory was purely marketing!

This is the story of very high maintenance guests with elaborate requests who completely hijacked the tour itinerary and their kind and long suffering guide who bent over backwards to make a very special experience for two crazy Americans…

My 13 year old daughter saw that one can rent traditional Chinese clothing (Hanfu) in Suzhou on TikTok. She very much wanted to dress up in the beautiful period gowns as we had done something similar in Seoul South Korea. We made this special request to the tour operator prior to the date and our guide, Roy, was more than happy to oblige. After our garden tour Roy accommodated our special request and took us to one of the more established hanfu rental shops in Suzhou with the largest selection of period gowns. The experience was wonderful as all the staff was friendly and welcoming. However, we severely underestimated the amount time that the full hair and makeup up and then subsequent photo shoot would take. When we rented hanbok in Korea it maybe took 20 min to pick out, try on, and leave with our rentals so I was expecting roughly a similar experience. However, standards in Suzhou are higher and the hanfu rental wanted us looking our best so full and hair make up were a must. This resulted in us massively overrunning our scheduled itinerary. Roy was incredibly gracious and while we were still doing hair and makeup he went and picked up takeout lunch of the Suzhou regional special fish and pork dishes so that we could still try them despite missing our lunch reservation. He then spent not an insignificant amount of time translating for our photographer and acting as her assistant so that my daughter could have all the photos of her dreams. I can’t recommend Roy or Sunny Tours enough as their flexibly and willingness to say yes to all our special requests really made our first time in China very special.

We had our private tour with Annie as our guide. We enjoyed all aspects of the tour from attractions to lunch and services. Annie is very knowledgeable about the history and landmarks and is also fun and very patient and helpful in all aspects. We like the tour combines history with modern aspects of Shanghai. We also like that the driver is a different person which comes handy in busy Shanghai as we can be dropped off and picked up at attractions without having to look for parking. The tour is highly recommended!

The location was easy to find, and the performers were incredibly well practiced. I’ve never seen cirque de soleil but I have my doubts that it could be better than this. I’ll have to go and check for myself sometime. Anyways I sat in section C and got a first row seat which probably contributed to why it was great. Based on what I could see when I got there I recommend sections B and C and I picked up my tickets a few hours beforehand (there’s a huge mall Nextdoor you can chill at before the show)

We were a group of 9. Three families including two teenagers. This was the highlight of our 4 days in Shanghai. Jim and Jade were fantastic! We went to hole in wall, really authentic places that locals go to. First stop was a tiny noodle place, then duck, tea tasting, dumplings, bbq on sticks, fruits from a local vendor, many more! We told Jim the group was into craft beers and we were sampling craft beers from a tiny bar with camp chairs on the roadside, very cool. They had a great system whereby Jade would be forward party so when we got to the place we had tables for the group, food was already ordered and drinks were handed to us. Very efficient, great use of time and everything was smooth and hassle free. You really feel you are interacting with locals and the money you spend is going directly to small businesses. Highly recommend!!

Caroline was really amazing and the excursion was interesting and exciting. Caroline's English was very easy to understand which we appreciated a lot because we are not native-speakers and sometimes we have difficulties with understanding other guides. And the driver was great. I am anxious and usually I feel uncomfortable when another person drives a car, but at this excursion I felt safe because the driver was very careful.

I spent a full day being shown the highlights of Shanghai by Celine with a private driver. It was an amazing interesting insightful and fascinating day. Celine arrived perfectly on time and everything ran like clockwork. Celine was a charming guide. Knowledgeable, personable, funny and charming. I could not have asked for a better day!

It was extremely interesting to see the two different towns, enjoy the scenery and savour the local cuisine. The Watertown was nice and quaint, it supposedly looks like how China was in the past. The shops were cute, artsy and reasonably priced. The whole tour felt rushed though. Even though the advertisement indicates 10 hours, we were back at the hotel in 8. The advertised tour does not mention a minimum participant number, but as they only had our 2 person party, they informed us the night before the tour that we could cancel or pay an extra $100. As we had nothing planned and it was too late to get something else, we chose for the extra ‘cash’ payment. Our guide, Tom, spoke English exceptionally well, was very interesting and had tons of things to explain. We learned a lot! He made us feel rushed though. The lunch was very good (and way too much…) in a very authentic restaurant. We would maybe have preferred to eat in the water town, but no complaints at all.
So, beside from the feeling rushed, and the last minute $100 charge, we really enjoyed the tour and are very pleased we choose it!

Jim was an amazing tour guide, not just knowledgeable about local cuisine but a great window into a fascinating and evolving culture. He was amazing at making recommendations and making the time together as rich as possible.
