What travellers are saying
- GourmeGolfSofiaSan Francisco, CA20 contributionsZlatni Rat is undeniably one of the most stunning beaches I’ve visited, with crystal-clear water and gorgeous views. However, the crowds are intense – it feels like you're packed in with everyone else, just like sardines! If you’re looking for a peaceful day, I’d suggest going early or off-season.Written 24 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CatharineBOttawa, Canada1,642 contributionsVidova Gora on the island of Brač is, with an altitude of 780 metres, is the highest mountain of the Adriatic archipelago. Its south side descends steeply towards the village of Bol while the northern side is a mild plateau with gentle trails.
It was the perfect place for a walk surrounded by aromatic vegetation and pine forests. My husband took the opportunity to snap close-up pictures of the surrounding vegetation. I read that the path from Bol to Vidova Gora is a demanding hiking trail.
We choose to drive and it was easy to reach by car via a well-developed road. From the parking lot it took about 10 minutes (relatively steep) to the viewpoint.
You should definitely come here, it's the best view of the Golden Horn. If you are on the beach itself it is less spectacular. At the top of there is a 12-metre high cross made from white Brač stone and a resting point with a view over Zlatni Rat beach in Bol but also to the Italian coast on the other side of the Adriatic.
The view that can be enjoyed from here is truly incredible. We were lucky that the day was clear, but we could see all the surrounding islands - Hvar above all - the Dalmatian coast and, obviously, Zlatni Rat beach.
The panorama from Vidova Gora is something not to be missed when visiting the island of Brac. Y can see the low bays of Brac, and across the northern side of the island of Hvar, the Pelješac peninsula, Korcula and Vis. I read that on particularly clear days you can see Monte Gargano on the Apennine peninsula.Written 28 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a very hot day and the trail is uphill and exposed to the sun, not suitable for those out of shape or sensitive to heat. Bring water. We arrived at the monastery 45 minutes before closing and waited for the guide to open the door (we could hear him giving another tour). When he finally opened the door after a 25 minute wait, he said it was too late to visit. And he did not speak English. A Croatian-speaking visitor arrived shortly after we did and persuaded the guide to give us a tour.
The building is interesting and worth a visit, providing insights into life in Brac over the centuries.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our tour guide was charming, entertaining and educational. I had the classic wine flight, with two white and two red tastings. Generous pours for tastings, and very nice charcuterie platter included, besides the tour. Not cheap but seemed like an excellent value for the experience considering the lovely beachfront location, the historical building, contemporary decor, and outstanding wines. All of us were impressed and none were disappointed. We want more of this wine!Written 24 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert P NLos Angeles, CA2,244 contributionsIt makes for a nice walk before dinner to burn up some calories. Otherwise it is nice to see. The walk from the port over has a couple of seedy streets, so after dark might not be a good idea. The port town seems very safe.Written 13 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jumbojo2017Damerham, UK125 contributionsInformed that Croatia exported naturism tourism we had been repeatedly disappointed at the FKK beaches we had encountered before discovering this one. Well signposted from the road and carpark (40k all day) we climbed down a well trodden route down the cliff side before discovering there were steps a few hundred yards further down the beach, lots of secluded spaces between rocks with SAND - rare in Croatia. All ages and nationalities. Magnificent clear waters and fish for snorkelling. Fab views across the bay, boats and other island from the beachWritten 16 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sellocelloSt. Albans, UK295 contributionsAway from the crowds in Bol and Zlatni Rat beach, this place is heavenly. The water is crystal clear with some fish you can see even without goggles. It is quiet, not crowded. There is shade and sitting under the wall and pine trees. Remember to bring your towels, sandals and drinks.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NickNmgmtVancouver, Canada36 contributionsIncredible pebble beach in Bol by the Monastery. Water is perfect, crystal clear, setting and views are beautiful and a lot more relaxed than Zlatni Rat. Although Zlatni Rat is amazing and is the more famous and happening beach in Bol, I prefer this one. The sun beds and umbrellas are also a lot cheaper than Zlatni Rat, and they have a decent selection of water equipment to rent. We rented a paddleboard for an hour and loved it, incredible views of Bol, the harbour, and the monastery from the see. Perfect beach on the Adriatic and one of my favourite little beaches I’ve been to in the world.Written 14 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Helene W3 contributionsWhat a hidden gem of a story. Only found this place because we walked to past a sign for it in a grey day. - Tanya P19 contributionsThis wee gem of a gallery adds dignity to Bol and offsets some of the crasser tourism activities centred around the other end at Zlatni Rat. It has three floors with lovely art. The guide (who is also the curator) was friendly and made it more interesting and personalised - thank you!Written 24 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BeveraldoLondon416 contributionsThis beach is quite busy because like a few beaches in the area it is wide but not very deep (distance from sea to back of beach).
Offers watersports including wind surfing from here. We hired a SUP (Stand up paddle board) which I don't recommend here as it gets quite choppy here so harder work and the service at Blue Sports (I think) was pretty rude-imentary. Not as pretty as other beaches in the area. Other beaches in the area were calmer. Gets deep very quickly in the sea.Written 5 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was a catholic religious ceremony happening, so a LOT of people doing a small march through town and ringing the church bell. Mostly locals at dinner and few other boaters. We had a good time.Written 13 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
