What travellers are saying
- JUAN NWKosharitsa, Bulgaria15 contributionsMagical place !! Old Nessebar was called "Messembria" and directed by Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli a.k.a. Pope Jean XXIII. Don't miss to make the tour of the peninsula.Written 15 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Elena KBrussels, Belgium59 contributionsThe aqua park is very nice in principle. A good number of different slides, good fast food options, changing rooms with showers, lockers, chaise-longues and umbrellas. There are different swimming pools, an area for smaller kids and an area for kids under 130 cm. Most of the slides, however, require a minimum height of 130 cm.
There is a small free parking and if you cannot make it early, there is a paid parking - 10 leva, in proximity.
On the good side you are given a bracelet on which you can put money. You buy everything within the park using the bracelet. Any remaining amount you can claim back in cash on your exit. This is practical as you can lock your valuables for another 10 leva. The food is good.
On the negative side, the waiting times for the most popular slides are ENORMOUS - 40 min to 1 hour for a slide. So either come early or very late when there are less people in the July-August period. The pools are very cold. Especially the zone for kids is a glacier with a lot of water pouring from all sides. You would not be surprised that there were not so many kids there. Mine was cold and scared to go in with all the pouring buckets of water falling on it. I am certain most of you have seen those islands of fun for some kids and horror for other kids. On the practical side, you need to bring a towel and shower gel and shampoo as there are showers but no soap. In the changing rooms there is no place to hang or put your luggage.

The young lady asked me what my preference was to dry or sweet wine & then bought back white, rose & red that she thought I might like. The place was incredibly busy with booked tours but I didn't feel pressured to buy anything but I bought 2 bottles of wine & some rose products & then sat & leisurely enjoyed 2 glasses of there own produced white wine made with Misket grapes. A really great experienceWritten 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Originally built in the 11th century and reconstructed in the 16th century, the walls inside are completely covered with beautiful frescoes that are in excellent condition. Tickets are cheaper if buying a multi ticket to see different attractions.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. the Old City is full of such jewelries, with their old walls and their nice ornaments

- Marek BocanekBrno, Czech Republic504 contributionsVery nicely preserved old church with paintings on the walls preserved from the 17th and 18th century. Only few people there, decent price and worth to see also for non-history lovers.Written 7 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daydream0212607360910 contributionsThis is the only Orthodox Church in the area that still has services. (Divine Liturgy at 9 am on Sundays) The interior of the church is covered in icons and is stunning. No inside pictures are allowed. I was there on a Saturday afternoon, and while just resting on a bench outside of the Church, a bridesmaid came out with a tray of wedding cake and offered us all a slice.Written 17 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NatalianoPlymouth, UK229 contributionsSo, the legendary dragon of the gates is still there but she’s alright really. Just hand her your cash 70lev each, under 90cm free, and get in and you’ll avoid any drama. There are a few pools, a swim up bar and pool bar and a lot of smaller person friendly slides. Anyone over about 9 will be bored as it’s really aimed at younger children.
Food wise - wait until the initial rush goes and it’s pretty basic. Some salad, chips, pasta, grilled chicken, burgers and bread. It’s filling and that’s about all you can say about it.

We simply cannot get enough of Byzantine design and love every Church we saw. Hollow a trail map provided by tourist info and try to see them all if you are into such design.Written 28 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
