Looking for an afternoon of dirty hands yet full of fun? Don’t miss a visit to Ceramico Arts & Crafts in Lapaz, Iloilo. Play with clay and play with your creativity as one struggles (initially!) to transform a clump of clay into a pot, a vase or a jar!

Hidden from the main road off the Antique highway, the pottery factory in Barangay Bandoja, Tibiao is a community project supported by the local government. While their main product is clay bricks, they also produce a small quantity of clay pottery.

The supervisor was friendly and proud of what their community has done, and rightly so. It doesn't cost much to request a demo: PHP50/person as visitor's fee and PHP100 to each staff who demonstrates the process (one for brick making and one for pottery).

The pottery making demonstration was interesting in that this was the first time that i saw one thrown on a manually rotating wheel, which makes it easier for clumsy hands.

The children in our party had an amazing time making their own designs and bonded immediately with the shy grandmother who demonstrated pottery.
