- Cynthia R12 contributionsYasmin couldn't have done better, helping me to find a beautiful pendant and ring in Tanzanite, within my budget. Tanzanite is so pretty and so much more valuable (to me at least) than diamonds!
If you are lucky enough to be in Tanzania (preferably not doing the Kilimanjaro hike!) it's worth opting for an add-on safari, which is how I ended up with Yasmin and the Tanzanite Experience, which shows how Tanzanite is found, mined and crafted to make beautiful jewellery. (And the "offcuts" are used to create pretty, but less expensive jewellery - so I bought a necklace too).Written 10 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Ngurudoto Crater in Arusha National Oark is beautiful, but you cannot enter it, nor are there any lions or rhino in Arusha National Park. 🤨Written 10 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Haytham Abu FirasQatar14,125 contributionsYou will be attracted upon entry by a traditional music. A 2 stories cylinder shape construction. Wonderful staff, many souvenirs, gifts, paintings, wallpapers and statues of people and animals of the region. Unfortunately I missed Tanzanite stones. Hope to have other chance to visit again. I bought some handmade pots. Worth a visit.Written 5 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Darwin PCincinnati, OH55 contributionsForeign tourists and visitors will find tastes of home--both literally (with a variety of unique-in-Arusha restaurants) and figuratively. It includes the only craft brewpub I've seen in Arusha, a cinema, several international food offerings, and many shops with imported housewares and other goods. The supermarket has in one place a huge variety of imported merchandise, including household appliances, that few shops sell. Prices are medium to high; but the convenience compensates especially for those thinking in dollar terms. Obviously, don't come here expecting to experience local culture. The mall is several km. from Arusha City Centre, so consider a ride share or "bajaji" to avoid a long hike.Written 9 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Annemarie3 contributionsLake Duluti is a nice lake though not special. What made the walk special was our guide Dickson. He vividly told us all about the animals and plants and answered all our questions. He really took the time and his English is very good. So if you are going to lake Duluti, I would ask for Dickson to be your guide.Written 31 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janine BNorthampton, England, United Kingdom409 contributionsWe stayed at the Coffee Lodge, Arusha for our last night in Tanzania. The Change Foundation is a brilliant idea, supporting disabled people and recycling. You can walk around and speak with the workers who will be very pleased to tell you about what they are making. You can even try your hand to make items. Everyone is very pleased to see you and they make the most beautiful things. This venture is well worth supporting.Written 10 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julie H1 contributionAugustine’s African Adventure was a true adventure! We explored five different national parks and saw so many animals including lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras and more. Along the way we were treated to beautiful accommodations and great food including hot picnic lunches. Our guide, Nickson, was very knowledgeable about the wildlife, and very conscientious and accommodating. I would highly recommend this company if you are thinking about a safari. They are small and pay personal attention to their guests.Written 11 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - macabaleironorth carolina163 contributionsWe hired Festo initially for a customized visit to several art-related venues around Arusha (eg. Cultural Heritage Center, Sidai Designs) and for an additional full day to visit a Chagga village, Festo went out of his way to make us feel welcome and looked after. He is extremely punctual, professional, knowledgeable, helpful and caring! In addition, his van is spotless and has a well functioning air conditioner which is a great benefit when traveling in this area. We were so happy with his service and recommendations (he suggested The Blue Heron for lunch on our first day; a lovely outdoor setting and delicious food!) and put together a great day visit to the Materuni (Chagga) village for us; waterfall hike, coffee experience and local lunch, that we also hired him for our drive to the airport on our last day. We have friends who will visit Arusha in the near future and will highly recommend Festo to them. Hiring Festo was one of the best decisions that we made on our journey and look forward to seeing him in the future if we are lucky enough to be able to return!Written 20 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nicole v2 contributionsProfessional organization. Communication prior to trip pleasant, where the wishes of our family (2 adults and 2 teenage daughters) and any adjustments were picked up and incorporated into our safari trip. Our ranger (Herman) was great. He definitely made a difference, with his wealth of knowledge and he always had answers to all our questions. Also always felt safe. For us, a 4-day safari was enough, where we did the combination 1 day Tarangire Park, 2 days Serengeti and 1 day Ngorongoro. The lodges were fantastic. Great food and staff very attentive. So in summary with one word WONDERFUL! Thank you Shemeji and Herman!!Written 16 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bischikoBonn, Germany11 contributionsWe booked Freddy and itravel in Arusha at very short notice after our tour provider let us down. Freddy was super prompt, responded to my request even late at night, clear and very reliable in communication and service. We did the tour with Freddy, he was punctual, reliable, friendly and well prepared. We had a wonderful day in Ngorogoro, Freddy guided us great, a great driver, a lot of knowledge he showed us a lot of animals and landscape. We can only recommend Freddy, the price-performance ratio is very good and he is a very pleasant person. Thank you so much, dear Freddy! Stay safe!Written 25 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Karine O1 contributionJuma organised a truly great trip for our family ! he easily adapted to our requirements and last minute changes.
We stayed 11 days in the north part of Tanzania and went to different parks. Juma also recommended to visit a bushmen village as well as arts and crafts which we loved.
Samuel and Hamisi, our guides were very professional and always helpful. Their kindness will always be linked to Tanzania. They were both very good at showing animals, giving many explanations and context.

Stephen tolerated the >100 email exchanges I had with him, continuing to revise my itinerary in a very timely manner following all of my requests. They also provided the most competitive price quote I saw for our Northern circuit safari.
They say a guide makes or breaks your safari, and we are glad we went with Joachim who is already well reviewed on here and for good reason. Extremely knowledgable about animals/wildlife and somehow navigated the entire time during our 10 day safari without a map from Tarangire to the crater to the Serengeti.
Joachim has a background/training in both wildlife and hospitality, and it shows in the quality of his service. He is kind and courteous and is a great human being. He made sure to note anything we were unhappy with re: the lodges/camp we stayed so he could provide that feedback directly to the camp management. Regularly asked us if we were doing OK or if we needed anything.
On top of that, he was an incredibly safe driver, always adhering to speed limits, always slowing down before big bumps in the road to ensure our comfort, and he was always respectful of the wildlife. We were with a few other jeeps on a cheetah kill, and he always made sure to stay back a far enough distance so as to not interfere with the hunt, unlike other jeeps that did not do the same (in fact some gazelles got spooked by these other jeeps and it ruined a second hunt we were about to witness).
Thanks Jasper, Stephen and Joachim!Written 26 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We met him at the House of Gems retail location at the Four Seasons Serengeti where my husband surprised me with the option to select a stone for my birthday. I think Owen was just as excited for me as I was. He was incredibly professional, taught us about Tanzanite, and was patient with me as I shopped through loose and set stones. I never once felt pressured, just cared for! It was a day we will never forget and we made a gorgeous purchase that we hope to pass on for generations to come. Thank you Owen and the House of Gems!Written 14 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ineke_from_XGetawayBelgium72 contributionsThis was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! I dreamt of doing a safari for so long, but I could have never imagined to do my first safari with such an amazing and kind guide/driver, Michael. He’s such a warm-hearted person, really knows how to find the best spots to watch wildlife, is a very safe driver and so easygoing to talk to. He and his wife Sandra tailored the experience completely to how I wished it would be, from the animals we saw, to the timing, to the food which was the best meal I’ve had in a long time (please thank your lovely cook Aerin from me again), to the beautiful sunset we witnessed, to the lunch experience which was a private outside luxurious picnic surrounded by the wildlife and no other tourists around.
I’m so grateful I ended up with Tanzania Safari Bug and I’m most definitely coming back!

It was because of Ombeni we got to see the whole Big 5 from up close. Ombeni was very professional and willing to listen to our preferences. At one morning we wanted to go for an early morning game drive to see the hippo’s on main land and Ombeni made it happen, it was wonderful. Thank you Ombeni and thank you Matoke to show us the beauty of African Wildlife! 🦓🦒🐘 Asante SanaWritten 26 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
