What travellers are saying
- Darwin PCincinnati, OH55 contributionsForeign tourists and visitors will find tastes of home--both literally (with a variety of unique-in-Arusha restaurants) and figuratively. It includes the only craft brewpub I've seen in Arusha, a cinema, several international food offerings, and many shops with imported housewares and other goods. The supermarket has in one place a huge variety of imported merchandise, including household appliances, that few shops sell. Prices are medium to high; but the convenience compensates especially for those thinking in dollar terms. Obviously, don't come here expecting to experience local culture. The mall is several km. from Arusha City Centre, so consider a ride share or "bajaji" to avoid a long hike.Written 9 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mike dFort Lauderdale, FL5 contributionsA good place for your shopping in Arusha. Several small stalls under one roof, selling curios, carvings, beads, fabrics, table mats. A nice place to visit for a couple of hours. Vendors would sell more if they let you make your choice rather than being so insistent...Get ready to bargain!Written 12 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janine BNorthampton, England, United Kingdom409 contributionsWe stayed at the Coffee Lodge, Arusha for our last night in Tanzania. The Change Foundation is a brilliant idea, supporting disabled people and recycling. You can walk around and speak with the workers who will be very pleased to tell you about what they are making. You can even try your hand to make items. Everyone is very pleased to see you and they make the most beautiful things. This venture is well worth supporting.Written 10 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Margaret L8 contributionsWonderful, huge art gallery that was more like a museum than a gallery. The range of art was amazing and the prices were suprisingly reasonable. We had two hours to spend there and we could have spent a full day. Really wonderfulWritten 16 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mia KNew York5 contributionsThe authenticy of sales associate Owen Minja! We met him at the House of Gems retail location at the Four Seasons Serengeti where my husband surprised me with the option to select a stone for my birthday. I think Owen was just as excited for me as I was. He was incredibly professional, taught us about Tanzanite, and was patient with me as I shopped through loose and set stones. I never once felt pressured, just cared for! It was a day we will never forget and we made a gorgeous purchase that we hope to pass on for generations to come. Thank you Owen and the House of Gems!Written 14 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- NsparSeattle, WA60 contributionsWe had great service from Shadruck! This is a real jewelry store with quality well designed pieces. It’s in a nice shopping mall. We got a 5% discount off the listed price. Prices were fair and we visited the main office so they could adjust a couple pieces and could see where they make the jewelry. A great place to shop and Shadruck is a well known gospel singer. Great experience!Written 20 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cheryl sAdelaide, Australia13 contributionsOne of my very favourite things to do on recent trip to Arusha. I booked in with goodness to do a beading workshop which lasts for 2 hours. In this time I learnt the craft making two items - a necklace and bangle. LOVE. I also really enjoyed learning some more about Masai culture and the tranquil setting. Chai tea with delicious biscuits was served and I could have stayed longer except I had other things to do.
Very reasonably priced and there was no pressure to purchase other items but of course I did! Sidai means beautiful and that's exactly what this experience was.Written 10 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
