This street is very quiet and it is a nice place to be. In general Zagreb has nice streets especially in the downtown but this one is really nice.

I was torn on how many stars to give this review since the Cathedral and some of the churches were still closed due to the 2020 earthquake. Work is being done on all, however in talking with some of the locals, no expected completion date has been established. The entire area is very nice to walk around. The park is large with beautiful flowers and fountains. Lots of seating there. There are several shops and restaurants in the area. When we were there on a Saturday, we visited the market. It was very nice with produce in one area, meat in another, and so on. When we returned later that night the market was gone and there were no signs it was ever there. The whole area was clean and spotless. Make your way to Gornji Grad to see the shrine. We also stopped at Park Kralja Tomislava on the way back to the hotel. They were setting up for a musical performance when we arrived. I would recommend coming to Zagreb. You can see everything in a full day without rushing. I look forward to returning to the area in the future to view the Cathedral and St. Mark’s Church on the inside.

What an awesome way to spend an hour. Really thoughtful, clever and unique place. Gives you a different perspective on things if your open-minded and thoughtful. Free luggage storage too :)

Finally restored and beautifully Decorated for Christmas. Definitely worth the walk from old town. Not much else around the church, and access to the inside was not permitted at this time.

Walk her from our hotel - about 40 minutes. Unfortunately, as previous reviewers have mentioned, all the surrounding buildings are fenced off due to damage suffered during the 2020 earthquake. Wikipedia has a very good article about the history of the cemetery and is useful in understanding the set up.

As far as I know this is the center of the center in Zagreb. The square feels very powerful. You can find a lot of good restaurants here.

Despite the cathedral undergoing major renovation (and therefore being closed to the public) you can still see some of the external structure. If you’re impressed by scaffolding then you won’t be disappointed with the sheer scale of metalwork around the towers.

Great sound and plenty of charm are on offer at the Croatian National Theatre. This is the perfect venue for classical music as every seat has good sight lines and is close to the stage.

We visited whilst staying in Zagreb for a few days. This is a novel, interesting and unusual but fun concept. We particularly enjoyed the free shot.

Zrinjevac is the main park in Zagreb and occupies three large blocks. It starts at Zrinjevac Square, passes by Strossmayerov Square and ends at the gigantic Tomislav Square, where there is a statue of the first Croatian king, Tomislav, crowned in 925. The park is beautiful and has many things to see, such as the clock astronomy, the archaeological museum, the first fountain in Zagreb, the Blizanci fountain, the gazebo where there is always an exhibition or demonstration, as well as sculpture busts by Nikola Jurisic, Julij Clovic and Ivan Mazuranic.

There are numerous benches were one can rest and just people watch – even when it is raining. A sea of tranquility in the middle of a large bustling city.

Of interest was the Metrological Pole. In 1884, the physician and amateur meteorologist Adolf Holzer built a meteorological column on the north side of the square, outfitted with scientific instruments to record temperature, humidity, and air pressure over time.

Made of Istrian marble and designed by architect Hermann Bollé, this landmark reflects the habit of notable families to gift precious items to the city. But Holzer’s goal went beyond simply displaying his benevolence or gaining prestige. The data collected were used for his studies, which were viewed as revolutionary at the time, focused on better understanding the impact of a changing climate on human health.

Today, more than 130 years after its construction, these extremely accurate, German-made instruments are no longer used for official measurements, but they continue to do their jobs, and people often stop by to check in on the local conditions.

The weather station in Zrinjevac remains a valuable attraction for those who love to discover the most unusual places in the city.

The lower town of Zagreb is commonly called the city center by the locals. It is located under the upper town which is on the hill.
The lower town encompasses from around Ban Josip square down to the Zagreb main train station. This is just a general idea for us tourists. You would need to look at actual maps for this as I think Zagreb is made up of 17 districts.
This has a lot to see in it. There are some good tourist maps available which show you what there is to see in this area. All up, i think you only need a day and a half to see both the lower and upper town sites and can comfortable cover most of the top items in this timeframe.
