He was super informative about the history, and was on top of everyone accommodations and schedule. The company gives you a extremely detailed itinerary the day prior, so you’ll know what you’re doing and when. There is free time as well, so you can do what you’d like to do separate from the group. If you’re going to macchu Picchu then I HIGHLY recommend them! They make it super easy! - Alexa CMoore, SC8 contributionsBook this tour NOW ;) This was a wonderful experience and It could have been perfect with one change. Keep in mind this tour is all day. Your tour guide will meet you the day before to explain all, give tickets etc. Don’t try to plan anything else on this same day. You will work with a couple different people during this experience. I had no problems communicating with anyone I can into contact with because I speak Spanish. I did notice some others having a little bit of trouble. There was one point were some of the guides seemed a little bit confused on which group to take. You go from taxi to train to bus to Machu Picchu so travel light. Bring a rain jacket even if you think it won’t rain because it will I promise you. There the tour guide Daniels knowledge and kindness was wonderful. You have time to take photos and all. One you leave the train from Ollanyantamo you take another small bus if you are staying in Cusco , then you find your own transportation back to your hotel . This tour was wonderful . Fransisco was the best guide! The way he explained everything about inca trail made you wanna hear it all. Beautiful scenery riding through the Sacred Valley and a good way to see Moray and Maras. One word of warning--they offer "2 seater" atvs, however all the atvs were one-seaters and they just strapped a pad on the back and called it a two seater. There were even warning stickers on every ATV that said "one seater only", but it was just covered up by the pad. For safety's sake, don't reserve the "two-seater" option. - Sarah W4 contributionsWe had a great experience. Julian was very knowledgeable and this agency was super accommodating as we requested to push our reservation back one full day so that we could continue to adjust to Cisco’s altitude.
Tips: get an altitude sickness Rx from your doctor before arriving and take 1-2 days before arriving to Cusco. Make sure you rest the first full day in Cusco. He met with us at our hotel the night before the trip to review the itinerary to make sure we understood all the steps involved. He picked us up at the hotel the following day and took us to the bus station, where we rode the bus, transferred to the 360 Vistadome train (which was awesome), then to Aguas Calientes. Rosa met us there and showed us where to catch the bus to Machu Picchu and oriented us in the town. When it was time to catch the bus, Rosa had a spot in line for us. At Machu Picchu, our guide, Jean Franco, was very informative. The tour was just our family so it was intimate and oriented to our pace and interests. The return trip was as smooth as the arrival and after arriving at Cusco, Ronnie picked us up at the bus station and dropped us off at our hotel. - ReginaAtlanta, GA15 contributionsWe had a fantastic time on the full-day tour of the Sacred Valley. Carlos, our tour guide, was very friendly, passinate, knowledgeable, and professional. Carlos picked up us from our hotel in Cusco at 7:30 am. The first stop was a textile factory in Chinchero, where we fed alpacas, llamas and guinea pigs. We were really amazed by the traditional method for weaving textiles. Then, we visited the archaeological sites of Moray , Maras de sals and Ollantaytambo. This tour included the lunch. The Peruvian lunch buffet was great. At each stop, Carlos enlighed us with valuable information such as history of Inca culture and how to make chichas. The view of the Andes was breath taking. Al Paca tours was very accommodating to our schedule - we arrived too late to make the briefing the night before and they were happy to arrange a makeup at a different time. Pick up and drop off from our hotel was so smooth and we felt very safe throughout. A highlight was our guide Victor who was SO SO knowledgeable and helpful!! He was an incredible guide! Finally, the food was awesome. - Andrew B1 contributionI will echo what many people have already said... Hands down one of the most special hikes in the entire world. I struggle to come up with a sufficient adjective to describe the beauty of this trip. It's truly a once in a lifetime experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a bit adventurous, who wants a quieter alternative to the Inka Trail, and who enjoys long hikes, of course.
Our guide, Marco, was nothing short of fantastic. It was a pleasure to hike with him and learn from him. His knowledge and passion shine through with everything he says along the way. I leave this trip feeling as though I have gained a new friend in Marco. All of the guides seemed very good but, if you are able to, you should request him as your guide.
Also, our cook Rafael was amazing. For a "budget" trip, I was blown away with the quality of the food, the presentation, and his professionalism. We were more than satisfied after every meal. Rafael takes pride in his work and this was obvious with every delicious thing he made for us.
In summary, if I could give this trip 6 of 5 stars, I would. We bought the ticket that included the Mountain circuit. It is a difficult climb up the mountain but worth doing if you are able to do it. This tour was great because everything is organized for you. Heidi will meet with you a day prior and explain the tour. I highly recommend the Sacred Valley tour be added but ask for a later train to Aqua Caliente. Also upgrade your hotel, it is definitely worth it. This tour can seem expensive but if you calculate the cost of individual purchases of bus tickets, train tickets, entry fee to Machu Picchu, the hotel and tour guides. It is slightly more than you would pay on your own but it is the convenience that provides the value. I couldn’t book anything in advance because we were unsure of our traveling dates. If you want to live a beautiful experience to Machu Pichu, I highly recommend this trek. Edwin was the best guide, he was patient, made sure everyone could enjoy the experience even if we did not have the same « hiking level ». The camp sites were amazing and really comfortable. The service was impeccable.
One of the best thing is the food, it was so delicious (best food ever) and the portions were enormous! Thanks to the chef for making this part a big success. The group size is also perfect to bound and feel like a « family ». The experience is unique and the views are amazing, thanks again to Edwin for the 4 days in this beautiful country. They kept me informed every step of the way. To be honest I thought it was a little weird how they were dropping me off my tickets at my hotel but it was super beneficial.
