Multi-level with 2 wings and a very large variety of shops. Safe for tourists, but it gets crowded so watch your belongings.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Incoming tourist are guided to a waiting room, in which you side up for tour service (provides basic information, such as family name, country of origin, etc.). The information is not checked.
During the guided tour of the Mosque, you will be asked to remove your shoes before entering the mosque. A bag is provided to carry your shoes. You are also provided with Hajib, though it seems to be optional during the visit.
The guided tour takes a quick walk around the Mosque, which has 5 floors and may accommodate up to 120,000 people. Though during our visit, it doesn’t seem to be anywhere near at capacity (we visited during the Night Journey of the Prophet Muhammad SAW day). You can take pictures within the Mosque. The entire tour take about 0.5 hour.Written 9 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The museum houses an impressive collection of many artifacts covering Indonesia’s Prehistory, Archaeology, Ethnography, Geography and Historical Relics. The Museum provides a good starting place to get a feeling of Indonesian culture prior to traveling through the countryside.Written 16 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Al-BurjIthaca, NY192 contributionsThe best Museum I visited in Jakarta and was pretty good about having English translations of all the information.
There are several 2 hour slots throughout the day. I went from 1 pm to 3 pm. Before entering you do need to scan a QR code that brings up a sign-up form. If there was an English version of the form, I never found it.
Instead I used the Indonesian form and Google translate to fill it out and be eligible to take the tour.Written 28 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Took a long distant photo of the altar and a few plaques and statues at the rear. The building is neo-Gothic style with distinctive white spires extending over the front of the building. The Cathedral dates to 1901, replacing an earlier structure from 1829 that collapses in 1890.Written 27 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One can go there by online transportation offered by, such as, gojek or grab. I admire the varieties and number of restaurants it has. The place is also worthy to be a one-stop shopping place in Jakarta.Written 19 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - anakpantaiJakarta, Indonesia96 contributionsThe Wayang Museum or the puppetry museum is located in the old city quarters of Jakarta and can be reached by using the Transjakarta (busway) and alighting at either Jakarta Kota stop or the Kali Besar stop.
The museum previously was a church and is repurposed to be a museum exhibiting puppets (wayang) from various parts in Indonesia. You can also observe the evolution of these puppets from their humble beginnings and the modern interpretation.
There is a section which is dedicated to the origins of the museum, which is a church and cemetery, where you can read and see the various tombstones from people buried, and also this is where Jan Pieterszoon Coen, the founder of Batavia (Jakarta), was buried. The tomb since then has been moved to another location.
Interestingly enough there is a section on the second floor of the museum which also shows the various puppets from around the globe.
All in all it was an interesting visit (affordable also).Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Solo Travelgirl72 contributionsthough it seems there is only expensive shops lining up, the food court is something worth trying. Customers are expected to get the cutlery themselves which is one way to go green. So come to dine in at Senayan City.Written 30 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
