It's only an hour away by boat from Jakarta. You can do snorkel and diving, though the water is pretty muddy and water isn't very clear. Still it's good if you want to get some sea without going too far from the capital.

I wanted to visit and stay on any one of the thousand islands and without much research I chose to stay on Pramuka. Now, with reading/yoga/sleeping/picnic by the beach in mind, Pramuka is undoubtedly disappointing. You won’t spot a beach anywhere. In fact the whole island is like a big jetty or port. I believe Pramuka is the capital of the thousand islands so you would see banks, Hospitals, schools etc and that is in fact the silver lining. As much as I couldn’t do anything that I planned, I managed to learn a thing or two about local life there. Life is truly simple there. You see kids running out from school as they take their school uniform off before jumping off the jetty. And you watch them while the sun sets in the background. What a sight. This island is perfect for divers I believe and a couple of resorts/homestays can be found one the Main Street facing the water. I stayed in Pramuka Seribu Island Resort. Boat from Marina Ancol Pier 16 only departs at 8ish and return boat is at 3pm. Both ways cost less than $30. Only one boat per day to and fro.

    TL;DR:
Beautiful Beaches, Crystal Clear Water, Facilities / Room: Outdated / Smelled, Service: Poor, Food: Poor Indonesian - Recommended & will come back more prepared.

    -----

We booked a 3 day 2 night stay through a thousand islands tour agent. Left Marina Ancol at 8am, took us about 1.5 hrs in the sepa speedboat. They X out the middle seats for social distancing. Hot/Warm in the boat as the AC was broken both ways.

We had an amazing time swimming in this crystal clear blue waters. The clean white sanding beaches and waters were the best part of Sepa. We snorkeled near the piers and on both sides of the islands. There are fish everywhere even a few meters from shore especially when you attract them with bread. Snorkeling gear is available for rent from the dive office (100k / day). There are a few rocks in the waters near the shore but after that all sand other than the reef.

My family stayed in 3 Penyu cabins. The room ACs are very weak so it takes a while for the room to cool down. The rooms were relatively clean except for the bathroom. The bathroom smelled like sewage, which seemed to be coming from one of the drains. Unfortunately, the bathroom smell would leak into the bedroom. We couldn't tell how clean the bedding was so we use a lot of mosquito spray and slept on top of the bedding. The facilities in general need updating. None of the buildings have been renovated in 20+ years.

The overnight stay includes lunch, dinner and breakfast. The food provided was passable buffet style indonesian food. We brought some additional snacks in case the food was inedible. Additionally, they offered to contact local fishermen to bbq lobster and crab for dinner (additional charge). The island has a little market selling cold drinks and different crackers / cookies.

We hired a boat for a fun 3 hour snorkeling trip to about 4 nearby reefs (250-500k/hr). We also used their jetski (only 1 working) (300k / 15 mins) a few times during our stay.

4 of us also did an introductory dive, which was fun but unfortunately the water was a times murky.

For the most part we were alone on the right side beach. There were 20-30 visiting divers but we didn't see them often other during meal times.

We did have a few incidents with small jellyfish that were hard to see and left a surprise sting but didnt last long.

Overall, great time at the beach and loved snorkeling in water. We spent most of our time other than eating and sleeping in the swimming / snorkeling in the water. Recommended and will come back more prepared next time with food, etc.

I went to this island with sea kayak, paddling with Laut Luas Adventure (you can find them in Instagram: @lautluas_adventure). It was great experience paddling almost 12 km from Pantai Mutiara. The guides are warm and skilful, they provided everything including lunch bbq on the island. Highly recommended

The scenery was very nice, the Museum provided quite complete info, but it quite hard to find toilet. But over all it was an interesting place to visit even with young kids.

semak daun is an unpopulated island, located in Pulau seribu, i went there from jakarta by a ship from muara angke to pulau pramuka continued took a boat to pulau semak daun. it took about 3 or 4 hours to go there. there's only 1 house living in the island, you should bring fresh water for your needs. you can kayaking by paying Rp 35,000 - 50,000. i went there by touring cost Rp 200,000 for 2 days 1 night

Bored with Jakarta mall? but you don't have enough time to go to Bali or Lombok. you can consider to go to Pulau Cipir, Kelor or Onrust. the island of 3 is part of 1000 island at south part of Jakarta. it took less then 1 hour from Jakarta bay, event with traditional boat, and it cost you around 150K round trip to access this island. you can find new atmosphere, and different from busy city as Jakarta. at Cipir, you can swim and sunbathing at the beach. local people from Jakarta usually spent their weekend in this island. this island also used for community gathering, fishing, camping or preceding photoshoot.
