Lots of major international brand names with many eateries and shops. One of the megamalls of Jakarta.

Multi-level with 2 wings and a very large variety of shops. Safe for tourists, but it gets crowded so watch your belongings.

Istiklal Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world. The mosque offered a guided tour for tourist every 30 minutes. Incoming tourist are guided to a waiting room, in which you side up for tour service (provides basic information, such as family name, country of origin, etc.). The information is not checked.
During the guided tour of the Mosque, you will be asked to remove your shoes before entering the mosque. A bag is provided to carry your shoes. You are also provided with Hajib, though it seems to be optional during the visit.
The guided tour takes a quick walk around the Mosque, which has 5 floors and may accommodate up to 120,000 people. Though during our visit, it doesn’t seem to be anywhere near at capacity (we visited during the Night Journey of the Prophet Muhammad SAW day). You can take pictures within the Mosque. The entire tour take about 0.5 hour.

The area surrounding the National Monument was under heavy guard and restriction when we visited with all traffic banned at the entry gates. We had to wait until the dignitaries with police escort passed through before we were allowed to approach the gates. Impressive monument from a distance, 137m high obelisk topped with a 14.5m bronze flame coated with 32kg of gold leaf.

I had been a regular visitor to Tamin Mini between 2009 until 2019 on my annual visits to Indonesia but Covid and the restoration meant I had missed the last few years.
I totally loved this place being somewhere you can spend a day without playing any of the additional fees to go in the specific museums even though the charge is not high it can add up. The individual themed museums are mostly good but some exibits in the technical ones are not what I would call up to standard especially the steam locomotives rotting away in the transport museum. One aspect that could be improved is the cable car rides on which yo get on and off at the same place after doing a lap of each circuit, the cable car stations are not adjacent so if you want to go on more than one walking is involved. Room for improvement as there has always been.
There used to be a railway around Tamin Mini which does not now seem to be running and staff I asked seemed not to know if it will again but they are now employed by the government so I would not expect them to know anything.
To rent the golf cart was 800,000 IDR for 2 hours £41 ($51 US) but it was not clear if this was the self drive or with a driver as the man in charge was away and a junior was in charge.
But there are free electric shuttle busses now the area has gone green (ignore ppl burning rubbish which you can see from cable car) and walking always an option. You need to get here early especially if you intend to use the shuttle busses, not so bad weekdays but this still is a popular place.
Another reason to go early is the proximity of Indonesia to the equator, yesterday Jan 16th it was 35C in the afternoon.
The most amusing thing is that you can book online however the cost is exactly the same plus an additional booking fee. I am sure some of the minor glitches will be sorted
I do not need to post pictures because they will be no different to the many posted.

The National Museum of Indonesia provides visitors with an insight into Indonesia’s long history in cultural heritage from prehistoric days up to today. The museum houses an impressive collection of many artifacts covering Indonesia’s Prehistory, Archaeology, Ethnography, Geography and Historical Relics. The Museum provides a good starting place to get a feeling of Indonesian culture prior to traveling through the countryside.

The best Museum I visited in Jakarta and was pretty good about having English translations of all the information.

There are several 2 hour slots throughout the day. I went from 1 pm to 3 pm. Before entering you do need to scan a QR code that brings up a sign-up form. If there was an English version of the form, I never found it.

Instead I used the Indonesian form and Google translate to fill it out and be eligible to take the tour.

Was there with my 10 year old and we definitely enjoyed it. Just the right size amusement park with fun rides so as not to get overwhelming. Loved that the ticket covers all the rides inside the park so you don’t have to worry how many rides you go on. Do go on a weekday so as not to waste time in the queue but if you do queue it was very organised. Carry a had fan as it can get hot but there are big fans and misting fans through out the park. Snack bars as well are easy to find.

We were looking forward to our visit only to discover that barriers were erected across the aisles at the rear pews and no artificial lighting through the nave. Took a long distant photo of the altar and a few plaques and statues at the rear. The building is neo-Gothic style with distinctive white spires extending over the front of the building. The Cathedral dates to 1901, replacing an earlier structure from 1829 that collapses in 1890.

The area was once the first walled settlement of the Dutch colonists in Jakarta, and later became the de facto capital of the Dutch East Indies. The area was proclaimed a heritage site in 1972 by the Governor of Jakarta. Our guide mentioned that many buildings were allowed to fall into disrepair or were demolished despite the heritage listing. A revitalisation of the area commenced in 2005 and 16 buildings were restored by 2014. We enjoyed our stroll and visits to the museum.

Kokas is a nice mall to visit with family, friends or alone. There are so many tenants and events here. Especially if you're looking for (unique/intersting) food. You can find food society, little tokyo, eat republic and many cafés here.

It's only an hour away by boat from Jakarta. You can do snorkel and diving, though the water is pretty muddy and water isn't very clear. Still it's good if you want to get some sea without going too far from the capital.
