I had planned to start the walk by 8:30am, but by the time I walked to MTR (with a sneaky iced coffee, dim sum from street vendor, plus the purchase of a couple of bananas), then travelled the chai wan line, got the 9 bus from shau kei wan, it was easily 90 mins from leaving my hotel. As others have suggested, tell your bus driver you want to stop at dragons back.
So at 11am, in the peak of HK summer, up the hill I went.

To be honest, it’s not that hard. Not a totally smooth track, but I didn’t miss my walking pole at all. Well signposted - and local cell service throughout.

The saddle was HOT and very little shelter from the sun. Beautiful views though. The swimming beaches below look absolutely stunning.

After the saddle, there are a few path choices to make. I kept to the right, intending to make it to Big wave bay. Once you have done the initial climb, it’s pretty flat.

By chance, I met a couple of locals who adopted me and wouldn’t let me go down the signposted big wave bay track which looked pretty rough. Instead they walked me about a kilometre beside the water drain, and I ended up at the top of the most wonderful steps. Apparently there are 1200 of them…. A thunderstorm hit, I hung out in the shelter at the very top of the steps (with the workers who were updating the hand rails for the steps). The sounds of thunder throughout the hills and bays were quite something to hear.

Anyway, got to big wave bay and it was absolutely stunning. Very good facilities- plenty of bathrooms and fresh water showers. Lots of small shops, I plopped myself at Eric’s cafe and had good quality food and drink. Finally, a wee walk up through the village and a 20min wait, a minibus took me back to MTR for 11HKD.

Fantastic midweek summer activity. I got a little sunburned- I recommend covering shoulders and neck when the sun is out.

This is one of Hong Kong's famous long-distance trails, stretching 70 kilometers across and around Lantau Island, starting and stopping at Mui Wo. The trail is partitioned into 12 sections with a range of distance and degree of challenge. It skirts coastline, mountain ridges and crosses several of HK's tallest peaks.

There are distance markers throughout the trail around every 500 metres. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. Probably the most famous sections are #2 (Nam Shan to Pak Kung Au) taking in the strenuous hike up to Sunset Peak and #3 (Pak Kung Au to Ngong Ping 360 village) similarly taking in Lantau Peak which is also referred to as Sunrise Peak. These are some of the highest peaks in Hong Kong, affording hikers outstanding views.

Note: You will find public toilets at the start/finish of the trail sections as well and bus stops - transportation to/from Mui Wo or Tung Chung, depending on where you are accessing various trail sections. The trails that scale Lantau's peaks are exposed to the weather elements so do come prepared with adequate hiking wear, sunscreen, hats as well as sufficient food and water for your hike.

Super memorable! It is a strenuous hike (less than twin peaks), but not too long. The path is well marked, and the trail is well maintained. Seven stars out of five! It is a strenuous hike (less than twin peaks), but not too long. The path is well marked, and the trail is well maintained. For a lot of the hike, you will have shade, which is welcome. There are stops along the way for truly Instagram-worthy photos of the amazing views. The best one of course is on the very top of the loin's head (which needs just a bit of agilie rock climbing to get to). On the way back, check your GPS as there are several paths to get down - some short and some long. Instagram-worthy photos of the amazing views. …this outcrop is incredible. It really does resemble a lion from the ground and the vistas from the walk up and the peak itself are truly beautiful. Very much recommended for hike, best reached by starting at Fat Jong Temple (get a minibus from Wong Tai Sun or a taxi).

The Kowloon Peak Viewing Deck is located alongside Fei Ngo Shan Road (Wilson Trail Stage 4) around half way through the Ma On Chan Country Park. Here you find a large opening in the mountains and spectacular views of Kowloon, Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island in the distance. The walk up to the Kowloon Peak can be entirely by way of road from the south, making it very much accessible for any level of hiking experience.

Just to the south you will also find Kowloon Peak and the famous Suicide Cliff. This requires some more challenging hiking either from the east by way of Fei Ngo Shan Road or if you are an experienced hiker with good shoes, gloves and decent skill, an approach from the south near the start of Fei Ngo Sha Road and scrambling up the cliff side, first to Suicide Cliff and then further upward to Kowloon Peak (602m).

There are world class views of the Kowloon Peninsula from the Kowloon Peak area. Just below the TV and Radio transmission stations, you will find some flat area and quite a few spots to take a seat upon rocks overlook much of the city of Hong Kong down below you. Views are excellent when sky conditions are favourable.

Many locals enjoy doing the Kowloon Peak Viewing Deck and/or Kowloon Peak in the evenings allowing them to catch sunset and view the city lights down below. Early morning hikes before the sun is too harsh can provide rewarding views and a good bit of exercise as well.

Note: When it comes to hiking in Hong Kong, make sure to have proper shoes, hat, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks and know the weather situation on the day of your hike. Make use of hiking trail apps like Hiking Trail HK and check in with forum posters on the TripAdvisor Hong Kong forum for help if you're unsure about anything before starting out on your own somewhere.

I recently attended the perfume making workshop at the Intime with my boyfriend for his birthday, and we had a fantastic experience. As soon as I saw this workshop option, I knew it would make the perfect gift for him.

Once we arrived, the instructor Angel Cheung was extremely kind and helpful. Angel learned the art of perfume making in Grasse, the capital of perfume making, and has worked with big brands like The Peninsula. She started by teaching us the basics of perfume making, then let us explore and experiment with different scents to create personalized perfumes. Angel provided great guidance to ensure our final perfumes were well-balanced and truly reflected our individual tastes and personalities.

This was such a fun and unique activity to do together. It was a wonderful bonding experience, and we both left feeling like we had learned a lot and created something special. The cozy studio provided a great environment for us to get creative.

I had looked at several similar perfume making workshops in the area, and I'm so glad I chose this one. The instruction was top-notch, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this workshop for any couple looking for a fun, creative, and romantic activity.

Great place to take your kids for a few hours of trampoline fun. We were not told its 2 floors hence we stayed on main level and later on discovered the 1 floor part of the venue. 4* only as it was quiet dirty with rubbish left everywhere and socks lying around. Staff friendly and helpful.

This was our first attempt at an escape room and it was a fun experience. It was harder than I initially thought it would be. The room we used had minor defects but was in good condition. The negative is that they literally give you the solution to how to solve a particular task when you ask for 'clues'. Would recommend

Had a fantastic time learning how to shoot at Gun Range Zero! Jin, the instructor, is very professional and passionate about guns and related tactics. I've learnt more than what I expected in my first class.

A great place with friendly host to play in Hong Kong - highly recommend!

…because whilst there are some fantastic elements to this attraction, there we also some clear problems. Firstly the positives: it is an amazing space for children aged 4 and over. The scale of what is on offer and what they can explore is amazing, with genuinely challenging and fun parts for older kids and adults, light high-ropes and mini-golf. The play area, which extends up over five floors, is a maze-like structure with so much to do, see, throw, catch, slide and climb. It would be such fun for children who can independently access it. However for our daughter, who is nearly two, the ‘toddler’ section was pretty underwhelming. Fortunately it wasn’t too busy when we went so we were able to take her on the older kid sections. Another negative was the bizarrely lengthy sign-up process and that there is very little space for family members to sit and wait for their kids. The (seemingly mostly teenaged) staff were all quite friendly but had some odd music choices for a children’s play area and when some child/specific music DID finally come on it was basically a “It’s time to leave” tune…half an hour before closing. Anyway, we did enjoy ourselves and glad we didn’t have to wait in the sun.

If you want to do an escape room in Hong Kong, make sure it’s this one rather than the more famous brand! The people here are friendly and the rooms are much better and well though-out.
We did the Zodiac Killer and the Bunker rooms, which are both excellent! Can’t wait to try the other two!

Awesome adventure for my first time paragliding. My guide Emil was amazing from start to finish, making it clear what to expect and what I should and shouldn't bring. On the day itself, he made a slight timing adjustment for weather, met me as promised and we went up to the take-off site. Once there, he double checked the weather was good for us to go and ran through exactly what would happen very clearly. I felt super safe as we took off and then the flight itself was fabulous, incredible views, and such a calm feeling to be floating through the air like a bird. Once again, Emil explained what he was doing all time to make it better, as well as highlighting some of the birds we saw gliding by. The landing was really smooth and easy too. Once we were done, Emil made sure I knew how to get home from the landing site, then he uploaded the video we took for me later that day. Couldn't have had a better time - and felt I was in completely safe hands all the way through.

Loved this food tour with Ashley, it felt very authentic. I emailed about availability of a tour and luckily the one we were keen on she was hosting when we were in Hong Kong. We visited a member of different places which meant we got to try and range of different food. I liked the French toast so much that we went back the next day to the same place.

Pre tour communication with Rory was spot on. We discussed our expectations/abilities & he recommended the Plover Cove Hike & Bike tour. What fun we had with friendly guide Tristan as we cycled & hiked the area.
We had a fabulous day, & I would definitely recommend this tour to see a different side of bustling Hong Kong.
