Hong Kong Shopping Guide

With its tax-free status, shining mega-malls, hip independent designers, enormous factory outlets and colorful street markets, Hong Kong is among the world's most exciting places to shop. This is the city to buy that bespoke suit, new laptop, and designer dress - you just might need to purchase new luggage to bring it all home.

Central

Home to some of the most expensive real estate in the world, it's no surprise that Central boasts Hong Kong's swankiest malls, chicest boutiques, and flashiest jewelry stores. Start by strolling along Queen's Road, admiring the glittering window displays of internationally celebrated jewelers. Air-conditioned walkways and underground passages lead to a series of glamorous malls, including the swanky IFC Mall, while the surrounding streets are woven together by spaghetti-narrow alleys filled with market stalls selling clothing, fashion accessories, and kitschy souvenirs.

Hidden away in the 12th floor of an industrial building in Quarry Bay, this shop features excellent quality teas from all over China.
My first impression of Mingcha was that it was located in a very interesting place - an old factory building which was very different from the other tea shops in Central.

This is a nice quiet (on a weekday) place on the south coast of Hong Kong Island, and I enjoyed walking along the promenade, walking out on to the pier, and exploring the nearby Stanley Ma Hang park.
There are so many gorgeous little things here, definitely come with an intention to buy! Walk up the less obvious streets and you find artists with shops happy to show you their creations.
