It's well maintained, very scenic and huge! The grounds were meticulously kept and I could spend all day there just admiring the beauty. The buildings had those ancient glass painted flowers which were delicately painted. And the autumn foliage was just spectacular.Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fire-tower3,217 contributionsWe visited the Temple of Heaven on a Saturday afternoon. We had bought tickets prior to our visit, and had to provide key passport details. We took a Didi to the Eastern Gate and start our visit there. Succinctly, the Temple of Heaven made up several imperial religious buildings and was visited by the Emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvests. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The more significant places includes the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, Echo Wall and Circular Mound Altar. We also took a lovely walk in the park. This place would interest those who like history and the architecture especially the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest is beautiful. We had enjoyed our visit here.
Do note that most of the information boards on exhibits within the buildings are only in Chinese.Written 8 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Caught a taxi direct from Beijing about 1h (260 CNY) and arrived at 06.30am - open time in peak season.
There is a free “blue” shuttle coach bus to take you up to the main entry point - as about 1.5 kms away from parking lot.
We were close to first visitor entry to the wall by 7pm - two options Badaling North (most popular and used by tour bus groups) and Badaling South.
We went south initially and climbed to tower 4 for great views and very limited tourists. There was a limestone stair option at the back of the wall to take you back to the entry point which we used. Very slippery coming back down the wall. Learnt a lot about wall construction on way back down and nice views.
Decided to also climb north section to tower 3 at 8.30am but way way too touristy by this stage.
There are two cable car options both to towers 7 north and south. You can buy a ticket on the wall, if you didn’t pre book. Alot of tourists catching cable cars (large line ups) to the towers by round trips — good option if not able to do steep walking on the wall.
There’s a few eateries and tourist shops at the entry area.
Caught the HSR from nearby Badaling terminal back to Beijing in 25 mins
We counted over 60 tourist coaches on our departure at 9.30am.
All in all great experience but get in early.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were temples after temples inside. Really worth a trip there to understand the Buddhist practices of the Royal families of ancient times .Written 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fire-tower3,217 contributionsWe visited Jingshan Park on a Sunday afternoon, and walk up towards the highest pavilion. Could be because it was a Sunday but it was extremely crowded as everyone was jostling to snap a photo of the Forbidden City across the road. What is interesting is that the hill is artificially created. The hill was constructed during Ming dynasty from the soil excavated when constructing the moats of the Imperial Palace and nearby canals. The soil was moved across and that was how the hill was formed.
We had a nice walk in the park and had very nice views awhile walking up the hill. Do think about transport too, as it was difficult to hail a taxi or get a ride through Didi while we were there. Do time this visit if you intend to visit the Forbidden City.Written 8 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I'm sure it means a lot more to citizens but I still enjoyed visiting it.
The size is impressive. You can fit a million people in it.
I'd recommend finding a reason to visit by reading about it, then deciding when to go. We went in the evening because it is so much less crowded. Sometimes the wait in the morning can be hours long. However, there is a military flag raising ceremony in the morning so if that floats your boat, you might have to line up.
There's a beautiful and massive flower display and a monument to the peoples heroes in the square.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ShannonSuva, Fiji1,159 contributionsThe widest pedestrian street in china, and the main place to sort all your retail shopping demands. Theres a wide number of international malls with dining options but I thought there was a lack of street vendor outlets compared to other Tier one city pedestrian streets.
