The exterior looks promising but we were disappointed with the variety of shops within. The building is designed based on a spiraling concept winding around a courtyard, whereby all the shops are arranged on a sloping walkway which brings you from ground floor all the way to the roof. Lots of photo opportunities here.

If you go to Seoul, this is the place that you should visit as it is simply too iconic. HOWEVER, if you’re not interested in traditional stuff. and would rather see the very modern side of Seoul, going there once is enough.

We were staying very near to the Kyobo Book Store so I stopped in with my 12 year old daughter after lunch one afternoon. Although they don't have a huge section of English books, they have a huge stationary section with gadgets, paper, cards, pens, and many other things that were fun to look at and peruse.

Good area to do your shopping for shoes & clothes. More upscale than the Myeongdong underground shopping area. You can ask for discount. :-D

One night we wandered into this gorgeous lamp gallery. The artist is a craftsman of incredibly elegant and really interesting paper lamps – the kind of never seen before. They also apparently have paper lantern classes, though we did not have time (will certainly investigate when we come back to Seoul). Right off of Bukchonro road along Bukchon-ro-5.

Excellent place to find nice pottery gifts. The lady was both kind and very honest. When I inquired about a particular item, she pointed out it was broken (i couldn’t see the glue). The shop fire not participate on the tax refund but when I asked about it she offered me 10% off straight away. In addition. for big pieces, the prices were better than in Insa-dong. I bought a nice gift for my brother that the shop shipped to France for me (I had to pay postage of course but it was very convenient.) She kindly emailed me with the tracking the next day. Highly recommend this shop!

Only 3 floor of top brands which are very very expensive. Base floor had goods with reasonable price. But people are buying as giving free. Nearby Shilla hotel is said to be 6 stars. Near car parking, there is a nice hill with beautiful chinese and korean mix style structure and sculpture, worth to give a visit.

Here you can have a drink for about 5.000 or 6.000won and then try on a dress (mostly wedding) or hanbok, priced from 10.000 to 35.000won, for 30mins to 1hour tops, plus have a Polaroid picture for 2.000 or a TripAdvisor review.
We enjoyed it very much! The girl is very polite and cute. She helped us try on the dresses and then took many photos of us together.
    I totally recommend it!

Fellow herbal medicine lovers, be sure to make a special stop at this expansive open market in Seoul for all things medicinal, it would bring you a world on wonder! I could not believe my eyes with the multitude of choices of dried herbal tonics. And I happily brought back a cache of Omija berries, a five-flavor super fruit that is supposed to cure all ills and prevent everything. Hurry and get over to this market soon! I am amazed.

I LOVED the coin thing--probably because I just really like old-timey stuff. We were a bit stupid and wandered through about 3 times before we realised we had to go up the the 2nd floor cafe to buy the tray and coins (this was a Tuesday, I'm guessing there might be more options on a weekend), but once we found what we were doing it was a great way to sample a lot of food. Basically 4 bucks for a whole tray? I'm sold.

We ordered a lot: avocado rucola salad with grilled octopus, lobster burrata, panini, brie cranberry pistachio pizza (Saturday exclusive), special pizza, buffalo margherita, Hawaiian pizza, gnocchi, uni vongole, clam vongole, and ragu pasta.

The pizza menu was a little different: the type of pizza was dependent on the day you come visit and there were 3 other all-the-time options. I went on a Saturday, which was the

Firstly, I think the most stand-out thing about this restaurant was the bread. The bread they give us for starters was amazingly soft and the crust on the bread was such an interesting texture.

The grilled octopus (antipast) was delicious. The cook on the octopus was perfectly done and so tender.

The lobster burrata was a first for me, but I enjoyed it a lot!

Out of the 4 pizzas, my favorite had to be the brie cranberry pistachio pizza because of the cheesiness, though there wasn’t a distinguishable pistachio taste.

The pasta dishes were good and tasty, but there was nothing too different.

Overall, I definitely recommend coming here.

One can immediately feel the experience of the senior owner, Mr Choi, when it comes to taking measurements and consulting.
He is quite a nice gentleman, literally. He had and still has many international customers… and speaks perfect English to accomodate every need.
As he is mainly a gents tailor he also is doing womens clothing, but no dresses, only suits, jackets and trowsers… in that case he has a female tailor to take the measurements.
I had the first measurement on a Monday morning, first fitting of the „raw cut“ the same day in the evening. Full delivery took place on Friday, no adjustments needed.
Hopefully his son will take over one day.

I usually don’t shop here other than to use up e vouchers earned from staying at Lotte hotels thru their rewards program. I was able to redeem $300 in e vouchers and spent it all at the Kahi cosmetic counter. You would recognize the pink multi-balm stick that K-Drama actresses use on various dramas. I especially like the actress who’s the model for this brand since she appears to be only a few remaining actress without the “eye lid” plastic surgery done that most women / girls get in Korea. I applaud the actress for showing that you can still be beautiful without plastic surgery as well as the cosmetic company for selecting her as their model.

The sales lady helping me at the Kahi counter was friendly, very talented speaking multiple languages (she spoke in Chinese when a rude customer kept interrupting my sales session) as well as provided additional complimentary samples.

Overall, the duty-free shops are enormous, taking up multiple floors, larger than any you’ll see at an airport, with a variety of usual exorbitantly priced top brands as well as some that are reasonably priced. Be sure to bring your passport!
