We had our trip canceled aboard a Liveaboard due to the staff getting Covid. Neco called in guides just for us, after hours. They have taken us to all the furthest dive sites. Made a special trip to Jellyfish Lake and Milky Way. They served us lunch every day. They honestly have been the most accommodating shop I've ever had the pleasure to dive with. They also have the largest most equipment retail and rental on the island. First you go to milky way and bathe and smear the milky sand all over you and you can jump in the water if you would like. It's in a small lagoon and there were lots of other tour boats there but it did not affect the tour at all since they all seemed to have their parking spots which were far enough away from each other.
Then we leave and head off to jellyfish lake driving through the rock islands which are magnificent.
Then we finally get to jellyfish lake! Before you get in you have to rinse off with fresh water before you take the small hike to the lake. Being able to swim with jellies who don't sting is a once in a lifetime opportunity that everyone should experience. Although I don't know how I feel about everyone using fins since people were swimming fast and hitting the jellies and some of them were being cut in half.
There wasn't half as much jellies in the lake as advertised but I know that they have droughts sometimes so even seeing some was amazing.
By the time we got there, there was another tour group there but they left half way through our time there so we had the lake to ourselves and the rest of our small tour group.
After we left jellyfish lake we went to an island and had lunch. It was a bento style lunch I gave my BF the meat and he swapped me for the veggies since I am vegetarian. After being able to spend sometime on the island we left and finished our tour with checking out different rock formations and seeing more of the small islands.
Although this was a great tour if you are looking for a private tour (I STRONGLY RECOMMEND) we found Captain Johns information at the Palau Visitors Bureau (680) 778-7333. He took us out early to jellyfish lake and we were able to be the only ones there. The off roading was great. We spent about an hour or so going round and round through the ruts. It was pretty wet, which made it muddier and fun. We went by the Ameliik Bai, which was super interesting, beautiful and worthwhile. After that we drove to a beach, which was really a dock, and not that nice for swimming. Given the beautiful island, it's too bad there wasn't a nicer place to get wet. We stopped along the road at a terrace and for the view, which was OK. then, we went to the falls. The falls were super disappointing. Based on the pics and the reviews, we were expecting to get wet, and go in, and see a pretty fall. It was very very muddy and wet. We couldn't cross the falls at the top because of the rain (not that day, but apparently the day before?) , and at the bottom it was a muddy mess where we slipped and slided, then walked back up. Maybe if the falls were nice, I'd have found it great tour. As it was, it was a fun day, but not a must do. We were there for 2 weeks, so 1 day of this was just fine . And it was nice to see some back roads and other sites. - AdelZBoca Raton, FL242 contributionsI just finished 2 weeks of diving at Palau with Neco Marina, the diving far exceeded my expectations. I have dived in 42 countries and used many dive centers. By far Neco is right at the top. The organization is run by a family that are passionate about the diving, they know their Ocean and the marine life here. They have intimate knowledge of the diving sites, fish habitat and will provide second to none guidance. The dive center and store is fully equipped with a great selection of dive gear. The equipment is excellent including the many boats they run, and the personalized service is exceptional. You leave the gear at the boat at the end of a day’s diving and they take care of handling it, washing it, and bring it back well organized to your seat at the boat, you can’t ask for more. They visit all of the best sites on the islands and you get a choice of terrific lunch including fresh sea food that they serve between dives.
